The BMW K 1600 GTL is BMW Motorrad’s flagship sport touring motorcycle, which is also one of the biggest motorcycles from BMW Motorrad in terms of size and styling. This gigantic touring motorcycle can impress you with its sheer size and striking road presence. However, there’s more to its mechanical specifications and features apart from its majestic visual appeal. The BMW K 1600 GTL is available in Malaysia in five different colour options of Ebony, Light White, Thunder Grey, Blue Planet and Sparkling Storm.
There are very few motorcycles in the world that come close to the BMW K 1600 GTL in terms of a visual appeal of a big and modernly designed motorcycle. The size and contemporary lines of the BMW K 1600 GTL wonderfully complement each other, which is why this motorcycle has a commendable road presence even at the standstill.
The BMW K 1600 GTL gets a huge front fairing, which accommodates a super-wide headlamp housing right in the middle at the front. This headlamp housing gets two projector bulbs for the main low-beam setup and additional rounded halogen lights on the sides which turn on in a high-beam setup. The fairing also gets a transparent windscreen at the top, which is electronically adjustable for its height.
The BMW K 1600 GTL looks bulbous when viewed from the side, as the motorcycle gets heavy-looking and busily styled body panels on the sides and a large setup of dual-sided panniers and cushioned backrest with an additional pannier behind it at the rear. The upper half of the motorcycle has the large fuel tank seamlessly blending with the large frontal fairing, while the lower half of the motorcycle has premium silver panels that hide the mammoth inline-six engine behind them.
The BMW K 1600 GTL carries on the bulky look towards the rear as well, with the motorcycle getting two large split and well-cushioned seats, with the rear seat getting a large backrest. As said above, the motorcycle gets two large colour-coded panniers – one on either side and an additional pannier attached to the back of the pillion backrest. Just below this back pannier, the BMW K 1600 GTL gets a wide-looking LED tail lamp cluster, with the motorcycle also getting long and big dual-sided exhaust pipes, with both of them present below the either-sided panniers.
The BMW K 1600 GTL has a large and very welcoming cockpit, with an old-school instrument console right in your vision. The motorcycle gets analogue dials, one each for speedometer and tachometer, and a large LCD screen in between of them, which displays various other information while on the go. The motorcycle also gets other premium features like an onboard computer with an audio system and navigation support, cruise control, heated grips and seats, keyless ignition and adjustable brake and clutch levers.
Apart from the engine, the other mechanicals of the BMW K 1600 GTL is also sophisticated in their build. Based on a bridge-type aluminium frame, the motorcycle comes equipped with a dual central spring strut with hydraulic telescopic forks at the front and a Paralever setup at the rear. The motorcycle is also equipped with dual 320mm discs at the front and a class-leading 320mm disc at the rear for braking purposes.

Powering the BMW K 1600 GTL is a four-stroke, oil/water-cooled, inline-six, 1649cc engine.
