GPX Legend 250 Twin Review 2024

The GPX Legend 250 Twin is one of the most affordable twin-cylinder motorcycles on sale in the Malaysian two-wheeler market. The twin-cylinder GPX Legend 250 Twin is a neo-retro motorcycle, which seeks inspiration in its design from the roadsters of yesteryears, but has modern underpinnings and a few new-age features as well. The GPX Legend 250 Twin is being offered in a single variant, with three colour options to choose from – Black, Gray and Forest Green.

GPX Legend 250 Twin Design

Like any other traditional retro roadster, the GPX Legend 250 Twin also has a simple and functional design, which can age well with time. The simplicity in the design of the GPX Legend 250 Twin makes it suitable for riders of all age groups, making it a versatile motorcycle for all.

Like a traditional neo-retro roadster, the GPX Legend 250 Twin also gets a rounded headlamp at the front, which though here features all-LED illumination with daytime running LEDs. This rounded headlamp has silver garnish around the circumference, which makes the fascia look slightly premium. The rounded turn indicators attached to the sides of the headlamp are accommodated within small blacked-out housings, while the single-pod instrument console of the motorcycle sits above the headlamp with no cowl or visor ahead of it.

The GPX Legend 250 Twin has a long and curvaceous fuel tank, which has well-carved knee recesses with knee pads for added comfort even for taller riders. With a bulge at the bottom part at the front, this fuel tank also comes with chrome-finished logos on either side. The twin-cylinder engine, while having a rectangular radiator ahead of it, has two exhaust outlets, eventually leading to the twin exhaust setup, with one on either side of the motorcycle. Here, the engine, exhaust pipes, footrest holders and multi-spoke alloy wheels are finished in a blacked-out theme.

The GPX Legend 250 Twin comes with trapezoidal side body panels, with the name of the motorcycle written over them in golden finish. With no traditional rear side body panels like in any other neo-retro roadster, the GPX Legend 250 Twin comes with a long seat with a hump at the back, while the rounded rear fender has the rounded LED tail lamp and rounded turn indicators mounted on it.

The fenders are finished in chrome in Forest Green colour, while are body-coloured in the Black and Grey paint schemes. The seat of the GPX Legend 250 Twin also comes with a large tubular chrome grab rail beneath it in a wraparound manner. The single-pod instrument console of the GPX Legend 250 Twin is a full-LCD unit, which has a digital speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge, odometer, trip meters, clock and gear indicator.

Legend 250 Twin Ride & Handling

Based on an old-school double cradle steel frame, the GPX Legend 250 Twin comes with a modern suspension setup of upside-down telescopic forks at the front and gas-charged coil springs at the rear. For a neo-retro roadster, this suspension setup feels modern and has been tuned for comfort-oriented ride quality and handling balance. The GPX Legend 250 Twin comes with 17-inch alloy wheels shod with a 110/90-17 tyre at the front and a 130/90-17 tyre at the rear, with dual discs at the front and a single disc at the rear making the braking experience feel sharp and responsive.

GPX Legend 250 Twin Engine & Fuel Consumption

The GPX Legend 250 Twin sources its power from a four-stroke, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin, 234cc engine, which is paired with a 6-speed transmission and churns out a maximum power output of 19.3 PS and a maximum torque output of 17.2 Nm. For a motorcycle of its size and weight, the GPX Legend 250 Twin feels powerful and zippy, making it feel relaxed and sufficiently powerful for urban riding duties.

Legend 250 Twin Braking & Safety

The GPX Legend 250 Twin might not have modern-day safety essentials like a dual-channel ABS or traction control, like some of its peers are offering. However, the motorcycle feels safe with the presence of dual discs at the front.

GPX Legend 250 Twin Verdict

The GPX Legend 250 Twin has a long way to go to match the performance, reliability and refinement of its other Asian rivals. However, with new-age features and chassis hardware, along with ample retro appeal in its design, the GPX Legend 250 Twin feels like a decent product for those who are looking for a traditional retro roadster with a twin-cylinder engine at an affordable price.
