The Keeway RKV 200 CG is a premium commuter motorcycle brought in the Malaysian two-wheeler market to offer an additional dose of performance and usability over the conventional 100-150cc offerings. The Keeway RKV 200 CG is being offered in Malaysia in a single variant, and the color option too is restricted to only one shade of black.
For a 200cc motorcycle, the Keeway RKV 200 CG lacks the charisma of being called a premium commuter. The overall design of the Keeway RKV 200 CG looks very bland and as simple as the entry-level 100-125cc motorcycles, with an additional set of features which do try hard to position it as a premium offering.
The front fascia of the Keeway RKV 200 CG is formed by a bulbous looking headlamp, which is surrounded by a curved styled cowl to make it look big and suit the positioning of the motorcycle. The U-shaped headlamp unit is divided into two parts – one each for low and high beam bulbs and has a pair of clear lens turn indicators attached to the side portions of the cowl.
The fuel tank of the Keeway RKV 200 CG is a rather small unit and looks too simple with minimalist looking curved knee recesses. There is small Y-shaped side body panel placed just below the long single-piece seat of the motorcycle, and along with the fuel tank, it is devoid of anybody decals, which make the already simply styled body panels look even blander. To make it look premium, the engine, long footrest holder, exhaust pipe and six-spoke alloy wheels of the motorcycle have been finished in an all-black theme.
The rear side body panels of the Keeway RKV 200 CG look slim and taper up towards the small tail lamp nestled just below the long and dated looking tubular pillion grab rail at the back of the seat. The rear fender attached to the tailpiece too looks very long and cheap for a 200cc motorcycle.
The part digital instrument console of the Keeway RKV 200 CG looks informative enough for a bike of this style approach, with a round analog tachometer and a rectangular LCD panel attached to it. This LCD panel shows digital information, by having speedometer, odometer, trip meters, clock and the gear indicator on display. The overall quality levels of the Keeway RKV 200 CG look just fine, but given its premium 200cc positioning, they could have been better.
The basic mechanical components of the Keeway RKV 200 CG feels as simple as the rest of the motorcycle, with the suspension combination of hydraulic telescopic forks at the front and a pair of hydraulic coil springs at the back. The motorcycle sits on an arch bra truck frame, which is decently rigid and durable, and rides on 17-inch wheels with slim tires. The braking combination employed on the Keeway RKV 200 CG is a disc brake at the front and a drum brake at the rear.
The Keeway RKV 200 CG has been bestowed with a four-stroke, single-cylinder, 2-valve, air-cooled, carbureted, 197cc engine, which is one of the most basic 200cc powertrains being available in the market right now. Paired to a 5-speed gearbox, this engine has its power and torque figures rated at 13 PS and 14 Nm. For a 200cc motorcycle, the Keeway RKV 200 CG feels underpowered, with the performance levels comparable to entry-level 150cc offerings in the market right now.
For a basic and cost-effective 200cc motorcycle, the Keeway RKV 200 CG skips on prominent safety features, and just get a basic engine kill switch, pass flasher and front disc brake as a part of the safety equipment list.
Foresee it as an entry-level 150cc motorcycle, and the Keeway RKV 200 CG starts making a little sense with its torquey engine and simple-to-ride nature. The other 200cc motorcycles available in the market right now are far superior than the Keeway RKV 200 CG, and the latter comes out as a very basic looking and performing commuter and is actually comparable to 125-150cc motorcycles.
I have been using the RKV 200 CG for over two years now for commuting to the office. If you are an adult like me then there are high chances that you will fall in love with the utilitarian nature of this bike. To be frank, this bike leaves no room for complaint and excels in all the fields, be
