The SYM Jet 14 is one of the most affordable 200cc maxi-scooters you can buy in the Malaysian market right now. This affordable maxi-scooter from the Taiwanese scooter giant is a popular offering that offers a nice blend of comfort and performance. The SYM Jet 14 is being offered in Malaysia in three sober colour options black, cedar brown and steel grey.
The SYM Jet 14 has got the right dimensions to classify it as a proper maxi-scooter. However, the overall design looks fairly simple by modern standards. It is the size and a couple of design elements, which make the SYM Jet 14 have a nice visual persona.
The SYM Jet 14 looks wide and sharp when viewed from the front. The scooter has a dual halogen headlamp setup, which comes with daytime running LEDs on their upper corners. These angular headlamps are positioned in the lower part of a sharply designed front fairing, which has nice creases while flowing upwards.
The front apron here gets a long but slightly lower-positioned tinted windscreen, which does not serve many purposes of deflecting the oncoming wind but makes the scooter look big from the front. The side edges of the front apron beside the headlamps get sharp and triangular clear lens turn indicators.
The SYM Jet 14 has a simple-looking design when viewed from the side, with its long wheelbase and big-sized body panels giving it the much-needed stance of a maxi-scooter. The side panels of the front apron flow down towards the floorboard in a pointier fashion. The floorboard is not too big, but sizeable enough to accommodate the legs of a full-sized adult. The well-padded seat of the SYM Jet 14 too is big and long enough to accommodate two riders comfortably.
The SYM Jet 14 gets fairly sized body panels, a long single-sided exhaust and an attractive design for the black alloy wheels. Towards the back, the SYM Jet 14 starts getting wider, with the scooter having a wide single-piece pillion grab rail and a wide tail lamp cluster, comprising of a start-themed LED headlamp with clear lens turn indicators integrated within it.
For a sub-200cc maxi-scooter, the cockpit of the SYM Jet 14 looks quite sober, with a rectangular fully-digital instrument console behind a tubular handlebar. This instrument console gets wing-like silver surrounds on either side and packs in a host of information, such as speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge, temperature gauge, clock, trip meter, odometer and basic MID.
The SYM Jet 14 is an entry-level maxi-scooter, and to keep the costs in check, the scooter gets a simple mechanical composition. The SYM Jet 14 has a suspension unit comprising of conventional hydraulic telescopic forks at the front and dual-sided hydraulic coil springs at the back. The scooter rides on 14-inch alloy wheels at both ends, both of which are wrapped with 100/90-14 tubeless tyres. For braking purposes, the SYM Jet 14 is bestowed with a 260mm disc brake at the front and a 220mm disc brake at the rear.
At the heart of the SYM Jet 14 is a four-stroke, single-cylinder, air-cooled, 168.9cc engine, which defers its ‘200’ suffix, but gives it an edge over every other 150cc offering in the market in terms of displacement. However, with a maximum power output of 12 PS and a peak torque output of 12.2 Nm, it is not as powerful as even other 150cc scooters available in the market right now. This makes it a bit underpowered for the size of the scooter and the weight of the engine.
Again, to keep the costs down. SYM has skipped on a lot of potential safety features. However, the list here is still decent with a single-channel ABS and a safety switch for emergency starts.
The SYM Jet 14 might not be the most stylish maxi-scooters out there. However, for the price at which it is offered, it is a fair value-for-money offering, with the performance and size of a 150cc maxi-scooter with bigger tyres and more comfortable ride quality.
The Sym Jet 14 looks straight out of some futuristic sci-fi movie. It has an aggressive design and striking graphics. The seat is wide which enables a comfortable riding position. There’s great legroom and you can place your legs comfortably there. The handlebar is wide and easily reachable. Coming to the performance, the Jet 14 is an eager performer. The

Maxi-scooters are a great option for bikes as alternative city transport, and when it is Sym Jet 14, it is even better. The bike serves my daily community needs pretty well. The maxi-scooter seems pretty perfect with modern, sporty cues and a pretty aggressive stance. The handlebars are very similar to that of a sports bike. However, it did feel
The SYM JET 14 is an exceptional daily commuter for the youth of this country. It has got the complete package – be it design, performance or everyday utility. Want to experience a ride that may prove to be practical yet joyous at the same time? My advice is to try out a test ride on Sym jet-14. I was fascinated with its elegance in terms of its design also. The high wheeled scooter won my heart since I first saw it. The sales person also informed me that
I have owned an SYM before. Hence, when I thought of upgrading my scooter, SYM Jet 14 was all I could think of. Though I like the performance of this scooter, it wasn’t the actual reason I bought it. My sole purpose in buying this scooter was its flat floor panel. That earns more legroom and particular extra space to
Maxi-scooters are proving to be a great alternative to bikes as an alternative city transport. The Sym Jet-14 serves the daily commuting purpose pretty well. It sports modern design cues and is aggressively styled for a maxi-scooter. The handlebars are like that of a sports bike and it felt a bit awkward when I straddled the Jet-14 for the first
No matter how many scooter I searched for, getting one perfect for the urban streets seemed to be more difficult than climbing up the highest mountain on earth. Every model had one or more flaws which didn’t meet my expectations. That’s when my cousin suggested going with the Jet 14 series from none other than the Sym brand. When I
I received Sym Jet-14 as a gift on my birthday, and it is one of the best gifts that I have ever received. It looks unique compared to any other scooter in the Malaysian market. Whenever I take this out on the streets, everyone starts asking me about it. The engine is very refined, and the braking performance is very
