In all these years, the Honda City has been a benchmark when it comes to space on the inside. The current generation Honda City still manages to outclass all of its rivals when it comes to outright space and comfort on the inside, with a clear focus on the comfort of the occupants at the rear. The legroom and under-thigh support of the Honda City’s rear seat still manages to be in a league of cars from one segment above.
The Honda City’s 1.5-litre petrol engine, despite being a decade old now, still has the sweetness and refinement which one would expect from an entry-level sedan. Not only this, the performance levels too is quite decent, and while it misses out the on the zing of the first-generation version, the engine still feels zesty enough to bring out the fun side of yours.
With features like electric sunroof, full LED headlamps, leather upholstery, curtain airbags, and push-button start-stop system, the Honda City has got all the features at right places to make you feel that you have brought a premium car at its price.
Compared to the previous generation model, the new Toyota Vios manages to look fresh with a very contemporary upgrade in terms of exterior looks. The busier looking front end, along with flowing theme for the side profile and curvy tail lamps make it look fresh and very much updated.
The new Toyota Vios definitely feels premium and upgraded on the inside as well, as it feels bigger, more comfortable and richer in terms of comfort and convenience features. The introduction of a couple of more premium features from Corolla as well as roof-mounted AC vents does score full marks in pampering the inner occupants.
Being a pioneer of safety, the Toyota Vios is feature-packed when it comes to being equipped with safety features. Things like seven airbags, panoramic view monitor, blind-spot monitoring system with rear cross-traffic alert, tire pressure monitoring system and hill start assist are some features which are still not available in the competition.
While the arrow shot design still manages to impress everyone with its aerodynamic profile, the fact that this very design is in existence for almost a decade now makes it look a bit dated. The features like LED headlamps and machined alloy wheels do try to hide its age, but it still needs a refresh now, considering the fact that all of its competitors have been updated quite comprehensively in recent times.
While the interior feels feature-rich and premium, the overall layout of the dashboard, as well as instrument console too, needs an upgrade. Some of the switches and plastics feel a bit low in quality, which do not go well with the overall premium theme of the car.
While Toyota has tried to make things look exciting, the overall performance levels from the powertrain doesn’t feel that enticing. The 1.5-litre petrol engine which powers the Toyota Vios neither is too involving to drive with its boring power delivery, nor it excels too much with its average fuel economy.
While the steering setup is soft and convenient for daily city driving, it does not feel too much connected with the driver, which might be a turn off for many driving enthusiasts.
