Aveta DY90

Like any other affordable budget-oriented moped, the Aveta DY90 also has a functional and basic design which is nothing much to write about. Some might consider the overall design of the Aveta DY90 to be a bit dated, which is true since its design belongs to the yesteryears. However, it is this retro appeal of the Aveta DY90 which also makes it look unique in today’s era.

At the front, the Aveta DY90 gets a huge vertically-laid apron which is divided into two halves vertically by a partitioning panel of the contrast colour in the middle. This contrasting panel flows vertically towards the lower tip of the apron in the middle, where the front fender of the moped is mounted. The basic-looking handlebar cowl of the Aveta DY90 comes integrated with a halogen headlamp in the middle, which is flanked by amber-coloured turn indicators on the sides.

Moving beyond the front apron, the Aveta DY90 continues its basic design for its side profile as well. The sides of the front apron hide the foot-operated pedals behind them. Even the central tunnel emerges from the back of the apron, which flows towards the rear while integrating itself with the side body panels, which also come with mild graphics on them. Above these side body panels, the rear slim panels emerge which flow towards the tail section functionally. The long and single-piece seat is mounted over this whole panel, which is decently large enough to accommodate two people at its best.

At the back, the Aveta DY90 comes with a tail lamp cluster, which looks as functional as the headlamp cluster at the front. This tail lamp assembly comes with a wide-looking halogen tail lamp, with the turn indicators mounted on the rear fender. The Aveta DY90 might have a design from the yesteryears, but it gets modern black-coloured alloy wheels. However, it also gets a very basic and compact-looking analogue instrument console, which houses only a speedometer, odometer and fuel gauge.

It is this aspect of the Aveta DY90 which makes it an apt commuter for the daily hustle. The Aveta DY90 weighs just 93 kg, which makes it one of the lightest two-wheelers on sale in the country. The agility of this moped is further ensured by the decently sorted suspension setup comprising hydraulic telescopic forks at the front and dual-sided hydraulic coil springs at the back. Riding on 2.25-17 front and 2.5-17 rear tyres wrapped over 17-inch alloy wheels, the Aveta DY90 comes equipped with a drum brake setup at both front and rear wheels.

The Aveta DY90 sources its power from a four-stroke, single-cylinder, air-cooled, 90cc engine, which happens to be the smallest two-wheeler engine from the manufacturer. This engine is paired to a 4-speed manual gearbox and produces a maximum power output of 7.5 bhp and a peak torque output of 5.7 Nm. The engine is decently powerful to pull this 93 kg moped with ease, but refinement levels are not too satisfactory.

The Aveta DY90 is built to a cost to meet a specific budget requirement of buyers looking out for a cheap means of transport. To keep the costs in check, Aveta has skipped out on sophisticated safety features, and the DY90 gets none of the modern safety aids.

For a cheap moped which is designed to fulfil the purpose of riding from point A to point B, the Aveta DY90 is a genuinely good product for its price. The performance and riding dynamic are decent, which makes it a good commuter for the price at which it is being offered.
