Benelli TRK 502 is available in 3 different colors - White, Red and Grey.
With the TRK 502, Benelli is trying to make up for the lost ground in the adventure tourer segment in the middleweight segment, from which it had a glaring absence for a long time. This middleweight adventurer tourer is the more road-biased and urbanized version of its off-road sibling, the TRK 502X, which is globally on sale. Benelli has made the TRK 502 available in Malaysia in a single variant, which comes with three different color options of red, black, and white.
The Benelli TRK 502 has got the stance and design of a proper big adventure tourer, which is a good thing in the books of those who are looking for a middleweight motorcycle with the proper personality and visual appeal of a big bike. The tall stance and wide bodywork do give the Benelli TRK 502 an in-your-face look.
The frontal profile of the Benelli TRK 502 is majorly covered by the bug-eye-shaped headlamp cluster, which is finished in an all-black plastic theme and gets twin halogen lamps with curved upper kinks. Just below these headlamps, the motorcycle has been given flashy looking LED positioning lamps. The motorcycle gets high mounted beak-shaped front fender, which has in-built faux air vents, which aid a bit in high-speed aerodynamics.
The side profile of the Benelli TRK 502 goes well with the adventure tourer ethos, with the chunk of mass concentrated towards the front. The visual bulk of the Benelli TRK 502, from the sides, lies around the massive fuel tank and the humongous looking tank extensions which flow and merge with the side portions of the semi-front fairing around the headlamp. The exposed black trellis frame shows off the twin-cylinder engine of the motorcycle in its full glory, which makes way for the stubby looking single underbelly exhaust pipe. Given it is a road-focused touring motorcycle, the Benelli TRK 502 gets multi-spoke alloy wheels.
As soon as you start moving towards the rear, the Benelli TRK 502 starts becoming slimmer, with curvier looking rear side body panels ending up in a compact tail lamp assembly at the back, above which it gets a large luggage mount behind the stepped single seat. The tailpiece comes mounted with a very compact fender, while the rear tire gets a small hugger above it.
For proper touring feel, the Benelli TRK 502 comes with handlebar crash guards and a large transparent front windscreen, the latter of which gets a part digital instrument console behind it. This console looks quite dated by today’s standards but is decently informative with an analog tachometer and a small rectangular LCD screen, which shows digital readouts for speedometer, odometer, trip meters, clock, fuel gauge, and more.
For a middleweight adventure tourer, the Benelli TRK 502 gets a good mechanical setup with inverted hydraulic telescopic forks at the front and a fully adjustable monoshock at the rear. The motorcycle rides on 17-inch tires at both ends, however, one can opt for a taller 19-inch front wheel. The best part of the whole mechanical setup of the Benelli TRK 502 has to be its braking setup – twin 320mm discs at the front and a single 260mm disc at the rear.
Powering the Benelli TRK 502 is the smallest multi-cylinder middleweight engine from the Chinese-owned Italian bike maker – a four-stroke, liquid-cooled, inline twin, fuel-injected, 499.6cc engine. This engine has been married to a 6-speed gearbox, and here, it produces maximum power and torque outputs of 47.6 PS and 45 Nm respectively.
The Benelli TRK 502 has been armed with a dual-channel ABS as standard, which is a good thing. But then, it lacks in terms of other safety features which are nowadays taken for granted in a middleweight motorcycle, including the likes of quickshifter or slipper clutch.
The Benelli TRK 502 has got the perfect visual appeal of a proper big bike to begin with, which might be a reason strong enough to single-handedly garner a lot of customers in its favor. Rest assured, it gets the job done quite finely when it comes to performance and ride quality, especially for longer rides.
