Suzuki V-Strom 250 SX Review 2024

Suzuki has rolled out the smallest V-Strom ever – the V-Strom 250 SX. Based on the single-cylinder 250cc platform, which is used for other motorcycles like the Gixxer 250 and Gixxer SF250 in other Asian markets, the Suzuki V-Strom 250 SX adorns a few design elements of its elder siblings from the same V-Strom family. The Malaysian market gets the Suzuki V-Strom 250 SX in three colour options – Champion Yellow no. 2, Pearl Blaze Orange and Glass Sparkle Black.

Suzuki V-Strom 250 SX Design

The Suzuki V-Strom 250 SX might be the smallest of the V-Strom family, but the lineage is visible in its looks and stance. Like the other bigger and more powerful V-Stroms, the Suzuki V-Strom 250 SX also has a lean and tall stance and also gets the same colour options. However, the absence of spoke wheels and proper knobby tyres dilute the visual experience a bit.

The Suzuki V-Strom 250 SX has a rather sharp-looking fascia, which looks appealing because of the presence of a full-LED headlamp, which has been shared with the Gixxer 250. This triangular all-LED headlamp gets halogen clear lens turn indicators mounted on its upper corners, while it also gets a large transparent visor above it. Below the headlamp, the Suzuki V-Strom 250 SX also gets a pointy beak, which merges with the semi-fairing of the motorcycle, while it also gets a fully functional rounded fender above the front wheel.

The sleekness and edgy appeal of the Suzuki V-Strom 250 SX look the best when viewed from the side, and it is this angle from which it shows its V-Strom lineage in the finest form. The Y-shaped fuel tank extensions, which flow down towards the engine, and the large and sharp-looking fuel tank, give the Suzuki V-Strom 250 SX a nice and youthful visual appeal. The V-Strom essence is further evident in the long tail section, which flows towards the rear while having a long and comfortable single seat placed above it. The alloy wheels, engine and dual-port single exhaust pipe have been given an all-black look.

At the back, the Suzuki V-Strom 250 SX gets a functional silver pannier holder, which also serves as pillion grab rails. Behind this huge grab rail, the V-Strom 250 SX gets a triangular LED tail lamp, which is a direct lift-off from the previous-generation Gixxer 150. Here also, the motorcycle gets clear lens turn indicators mounted on the upper corners of the rear fender.

Coming back to the front, the Suzuki V-Strom 250 SX gets a full-LCD instrument console for its rider’s cockpit behind the long and wide-stretched handlebar. This fully digital panel has been shared with the entry-level Gixxer family and is compatible with Bluetooth connectivity. The presence of handlebar crash guards further makes the Suzuki V-Strom 250 SX look and feel even more purposeful, while offering protection against windblasts and crashes at higher speeds.

V-Strom 250 SX Ride & Handling

Unlike the Gixxer 250 siblings, the Suzuki V-Strom 250 SX gets different 19-inch front and 17-inch rear alloy wheels, wrapped with 100/90-19 front and 140/70-17 rear tubeless tyres. This setup might not be as hardcore as larger and more powerful V-Stroms, but they are decent enough to give a comfortable riding experience over well-paved roads – both city streets and highways. The motorcycle comes with disc brakes on both wheels as standard.

Suzuki V-Strom 250 SX Engine & Fuel Consumption

Shared with the Gixxer 250 and Gixxer SF 250, the four-stroke, single-cylinder, oil-cooled, 249cc engine of the Suzuki V-Strom 250 SX produces a maximum power output of 26.5 PS and a peak torque output of 22.2 Nm. Paired with a 6-speed transmission, this engine feels refined to the RPM redline, with it offering ample torque for riding with higher gears at even lower urban speeds.

V-Strom 250 SX Braking & Safety

The only safety feature offered in the Suzuki V-Strom 250 SX is a dual-channel ABS. However, the presence of handlebar crash guards, transparent windshield and engine sump guard offer this motorcycle added levels of protection.

Suzuki V-Strom 250 SX Verdict

The Suzuki V-Strom 250 SX might be lacking in character and off-road worthiness of the larger models from the V-Strom family. However, in terms of appearance and performance, it successfully tries to fit in the V-Strom legacy, making it a decent tourer and even a commuter for daily rides.
