Suzuki Gixxer 250 Review 2025

An entry-level quarter-litre sports commuter from Suzuki, the Gixxer 250, currently in its first-generation version, is a more powerful iteration of the Gixxer 150 commuter sold in other Asian markets, with it getting a larger engine than the latter. The Suzuki Gixxer 250 is available in the Malaysian two-wheeler market in a single variant, which comes in two colour choices – Metallic Matte Stellar Blue and Metallic Matte Black.

Suzuki Gixxer 250 Design

The Suzuki Gixxer 250 mimics the design of the Gixxer 150 sold overseas, with it having a muscular-looking design that looks handsome. The centre of attraction in the Gixxer 250 is its brawny-looking fuel tank, which gets curved contours perfectly suitable for riders of all sizes and built. It is this muscular-looking fuel tank that gives the Suzuki Gixxer 250 much of its visual mass.

The muscular-looking fuel tank also gets sleek and wide tank extensions, which further enhance its look and stance when viewed from the side. The tank extensions and the 17-inch alloy wheels of the Gixxer 250 get mild yellow graphics, that add a touch of sportiness to the overall design of the motorcycle. The minimalist-looking front profile of the Suzuki Gixxer 250 has a triangular all-LED headlamp, which has clear lens turn indicators attached to its sides.

The side profile of the Suzuki Gixxer 250 also has a bronze-themed finish for the engine casing, a minimal-looking engine belly pan and a stubby single-sided exhaust pipe with two outlet ports. The exhaust pipe gets a chrome finish for the ports and cover, with the Gixxer 250 also having aluminium footrests.

Towards the rear, the Suzuki Gixxer 250 has a sporty tail section, above which it has its split seat arrangement, with both seats having enough room for even full-sized adults. Having split pillion grab handles, the tail section of the Gixxer 250 ends with a slim and tiny stretched V-shaped LED tail lamp, with clear lens turn indicators mounted on the sides of the long rear fender.

Even the compact full-LCD instrument console of the Suzuki Gixxer 250 has been shared with other entry-level Suzuki motorcycles and scooters from its global lineup. This rectangular LCD screen sits within a wide octagonal housing, and has a speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge, gear indicator, clock, instantaneous and average fuel efficiency readings and distance-to-empty, while also featuring Bluetooth connectivity.

Gixxer 250 Ride & Handling

Apart from the larger-sized engine, the Suzuki Gixxer 250 shares its tubular frame, suspension, brakes and tyres with the lesser-powerful Gixxer 250. This premium 250cc commuter comes with a conventional 41mm telescopic fork at the front and a 7-step adjustable mono-shock at the rear, which have been tuned to deliver excellent ride quality. The Suzuki Gixxer 250 also shares its 17-inch alloy wheels with 110/70 R17 front and 150/60 R17 rear tyres and a braking setup comprising a 300mm disc at the front and a 220mm disc at the rear.

Suzuki Gixxer 250 Engine & Fuel Consumption

The Suzuki Gixxer 250 has a four-stroke, single-cylinder, oil-cooled, 249cc engine, which is an upsized version of the 150cc engine offered in the Gixxer 150. This engine is paired with a 6-speed transmission and claims a maximum power output of 26.5 PS and a maximum torque output of 22.2 Nm. This engine might not be suitable for those who prefer outright quick acceleration and peaky performance – instead, it delivers a sedate riding experience with punchy low-end torque, which is perfectly suitable for city riding and occasional highway runs.

Gixxer 250 Braking & Safety

The Suzuki Gixxer 250 is not a motorcycle that is armed with the latest riding tech and electronic riding aids seen in other high-performance sub-500cc sport bikes. However, it has dual-channel ABS and Bluetooth connectivity for monitoring your phone calls and messages while on the go.

Suzuki Gixxer 250 Verdict

The Suzuki Gixxer 250 lacks the drama in its performance and riding dynamics people expect from an entry-level sports bike. To be precise, it is a powerful commuter, which does the job of commuting from point A to point B quickly and with a sedate balance of supple ride quality and agile handling, with a refined and reliable 250cc engine doing its job perfectly.
