GPX Gentleman 200 Review 2024

The GPX Gentleman 200 is an entry-level, affordable single-seater café racer, which comes with the traditional design ethos and riding posture of an old-school British café racer. Unlike the much pricier café racers from other global brands, the GPX Gentleman 200 has a single-cylinder engine in the entry-level 200cc category, which makes it one of the most affordable café racers in the Malaysian two-wheeler market. The GPX Gentleman 200 is being offered in two colour options – Gray and Black.

GPX Gentleman 200 Design

From the perspective of a pure café racer, the GPX Gentleman 200 can score heavily with its authentic café racer design. The old-school design language, with a low-set handlebar, single seat with a rounded cowl at the back, spoke wheels and rear set foot pegs make the GPX Gentleman 200 a traditional café racer in its appearance.

At the front, the GPX Gentleman 200 greets one with its rounded halogen headlamp, which has a daytime running LED ring light around its circumference and is flanked by LED turn indicators. The headlamp here sits within a blacked-out cowl and comes with a tiny black visor above it. The front wheel has a round-themed chopped fender above it, which completes the frontal look of the café racer.

The side profile of the GPX Gentleman 200 has a muscular-looking fuel tank with angular knee recesses and thick knee pads on either side, making the motorcycle look sporty from the side. The spoke wheels and engine of the motorcycle are finished in a theme of black, with the engine here having an angular-looking cowl beneath it. The long and uprising exhaust pipe of the motorcycle is finished in a theme of chrome, though, with the GPX Gentleman 200 getting the traditional single-seater layout with a curved and well-padded seat and a rounded cowl behind it.

The rear profile of the GPX Gentleman 200 looks minimalist, with a tiny LED tail lamp nestled behind the round-themed seat cowl and a fender which has LED turn indicators mounted on its upper corners. Like a traditional café racer, the GPX Gentleman 200 also gets an angular handlebar with a curved middle part, along with a silver-themed finish for the mid-part of the handlebar, front brake and clutch levers.

The off-set positioned single-pod instrument console of the GPX Gentleman 200 is a full-LCD unit with information like vehicle speed, tachometer, fuel gauge, odometer and trip meters on display. The central part of the fuel tank ahead of the rider’s vision has a segmented silver strip running from top to bottom, giving the fuel tank a sense of length.

Gentleman 200 Ride & Handling

Being a pure café racer, the GPX Gentleman 200 has committed riding posture and a slightly stiffer setup for its suspension – upside-down telescopic forks at the front and a mono-shock with a rectangular swingarm at the rear. The GPX Gentleman 200 rides on 17-inch wired spoke wheels wrapped with a 110/70-17 tyre at the front and a 140/70-17 tyre at the rear, both of which are tube-type tyres. Despite being an entry-level café racer, the GPX Gentleman 200 is equipped with dual discs at the front and a single disc at the rear for braking.

GPX Gentleman 200 Engine & Fuel Consumption

The GPX Gentleman 200 is powered by a four-stroke, single-cylinder, carburetted, air-cooled, 197cc engine, which makes it the smallest engine for a café racer on sale in Malaysia. This old-school engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox and churns out a maximum power output of 20 PS and a peak torque output of 18 Nm. For its size and engine capacity, the performance numbers are decent, which makes the lightweight Gentleman 200 peppy to ride.

Gentleman 200 Braking & Safety

The GPX Gentleman 200 doesn’t come with premium riding aids like ABS or traction control, but it has some handy features on offer as standard. These features like include the LED ring around the headlamp for additional assistance while riding at night, and ventilated disc brakes for faster and more efficient heat dissipation.

GPX Gentleman 200 Verdict

The GPX Gentleman 200 might not be rich in features and fit and finish levels, but when it comes to authenticity in its design, it looks like a pure café racer, which also has decent performance levels and handling to make urban rides engaging enough for a motorcycle of its size and cost.
