Recent Updates of CB500F

At the EICMA Motorcycle Show 2018, Honda revealed its 2019 range 500cc bikes and included in the list was the new CB500F. The bike now gets a new motor, though it’s not a total redesign, Honda has reworked the intake and exhaust. Also, the valve timing is changed, and the bike now gets new fuel injectors. With all this, the company assures more low-to-midrange power and torque. Ensuring a smoother ride experience, a new assist-and-slip clutch now comes mated to an updated 6-speed transmission. A new single-tube shock with large internal parts reduces oil forming and allows for more precise damping characteristics.

The new 2019 range includes a redesigned full-color LCD screen that’s both informative and attractive. Not only it readouts gear position but also displays real-time fuel consumption. The bike gets a new and angular design. Also, all the lights on the 2019 CB500F are now LED. Also, like before, the ABS comes optional at additional cost. Be patient, as its sometime before the new CB500F makes it to our market.

Overview

The Honda CB500F belongs to the well-known motorcycle series from the Japanese automaker. It is known for its powerful performance, superior design, and dependability. The CB500F comes with a combination of easy handling and naked street style. The two-wheeler is a fun-to-ride. Practically, the bike offers a thrilling performance along with the naked concept.

It comes with a powerful engine, which offers a good amount of power and riding stability. The bike features discs braked on the front as well as the rear. It gets the support of ABS as well. The brakes are good enough to stop when applied at high speed. The key attraction of the two-wheeler is the Wave Key and HISS that prevents theft.

Design

The Honda CB500F comes with a naked design and is available in three color options - Candy Caribbean Blue Sea, Force Silver Metallic, and Candy Chromosphere Red. It gets a bright headlight and taillight which point to the motorcycle’s bold and sharp design.

The bike comes with an LCD instrument panel where the rider will get all the needed information. The display contains a tripmeter and fuel consumption gauges, bar graph tachometer, digital clock, and digital speedometer. Moreover, it comes with a 16.7-litre fuel tank along with a built-in cover that enhances convenience while refuelling.

The motorcycle rides on 17-inch wheels. The front wheel is wrapped in tubeless 120 mm tyre while the rear one gets a thick 160 rubber.

Ride & Handling

The Honda CB500F is one of the best sports bikes to ride. The engine is powerful enough while both the maximum and torque comes at a decent rev range.

Speaking of the suspensions, a telescopic fork suspension is added to the front wheel while at the rear comes a prolink suspension with nine adjustable levels. The preloaded adjuster front and the rear suspension work together to make the riding comfortable and soft for both riders as well as the pillions.

Engine & Fuel Consumption

The Honda CB500F is powered by a 4-stroke, parallel-twin liquid-cooled engine that offers a good performance while riding. The 471 cc mill is capable of belting out a maximum of 49.5 hp power along with a peak torque of 44 Nm. Both the maximum power and torque comes at a rev range of 8,500 rpm and 7,000 rpm, respectively.

The rev range is quite good. The rider can get the maximum power and torque without lingering in the high redline. The transmission duties of the two-wheeler are done by a 6-speed manual gearbox.

The motorcycle offers quite a good performance with the liquid-cooled parallel-twin DOHC engine. It is further aided by the PGM-FI injectors and the new transmission system offers a great riding experience and makes the riding more responsive.

Braking & Safety

As for the braking, the Honda CB500F gets disc brakes on both of the wheels. At the front, the 320 mm disc rotor has a dual-piston caliper which makes a good stopping power. Also, both the disc brakes support ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) that avoids the sudden locking of brakes to prevent skidding.

The two-wheeler comes with the brand’s exclusive Wave Key that helps to avoid theft by preventing the insertion of a forged key. There is a feature called HISS (Honda Ignition Security System), a microchip which is embedded within the key. The chip contains a password, and the bike cannot be unlocked if the password does not match with that of the key cylinder.

It has a seat height of 789 mm which encourages the fact that the riders of all heights can handle the bike easily. They can easily place their foot firmly on the ground. It comes with a kerb weight of 191 kg which is decent enough to handle.

Verdict

The Honda CB500F is one of the top names in the sports bike section in Malaysia.  The naked bike gets a powerful engine along with a bunch of safety features. The LED headlight and taillight point to its bold and sharp design.

The motorcycle comes with a price tag of around RM31,00 and gives a tough competition to the Yamaha MT-07.

A reliable bike with attractive features

Hey guys has anyone of you purchased the newly launched CB500F? Well I did recently and quite satisfy with its performance and looks. The bike has gone through quite a few up gradations. But the best part that I liked is its LCD screen that not only rendered a gorgeous look to the bike but is quite informative as well. Read More
