The Honda X-ADV is a multi-purpose vehicle on two wheels which acts as a fantastic balance between a practical maxi-scooter and a thrilling-to-ride big adventure motorcycle. The Honda X-ADV is being offered in the Malaysian two-wheeler market, and is positioned as a super niche maxi-scooter with three different paint schemes on offer – Matte Bullet Silver, Grand Prix Red and Matte Moonstone Silver.
Thanks to its brilliant combination of a design of a maxi-scooter and stance of a full-blown adventure motorcycle, the Honda X-ADV boasts of a tremendous road presence, which truly makes it a niche product of its own.
The Honda X-ADV welcomes on with its captivating tall stance, which accommodates a futuristic-looking front fascia. This front fascia majorly includes twin LED headlamps, which look angular and are substantially separated by a small trapezoidal air vent between them. Below the headlamp, the lower portion of the front apron is finished in the tough-looking black plastic cladding. On the other hand, just above the headlamps, there is a rakish upper front apron finished in body color, at the top of which sits a fully adjustable windshield.
From the sides, the slightly high ground clearance, as well as tall spoke wheels, gives the Honda X-ADV an impression of an outright off-road adventure motorcycle. However, the overall layout of the busily styled body panels, the split floorboard and a lower positioned stepped large and wide seat give it the image of a maxi scooter. The steeply rising exhaust pipe, with its chrome shield, is something which is unusual on a scooter and is majorly present in a dual-purpose motorcycle.
At the back, the Honda X-ADV ends up with a wide tail lamp assembly, which houses a small hexagonal LED tail lamp within at, large and wide split pillion grab rails on its sides and a long rear fender fixed on its bottom, on which sleek LED turn indicators are mounted as well. The 21 liters of under-seat storage of the Honda X-ADV is good enough to house a full-face helmet, and has been equipped with a 12V socket and LED illumination inside it.
The rider’s cockpit of the Honda X-ADV welcomes you with its widely laid clip-on handlebars, in the middle of which is placed a rectangular full TFT instrument console. This display unit is placed slightly far ahead of the handlebar’s middle portion and shows digital information for speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge, odometer, trip meters, clock, gear indicator and many other data while on the go.
Being a premium full-fledged scooter, the Honda X-ADV has been kitted with premium hardware under its flashy skin. Built around a steel diamond frame, the Honda X-ADV gets a suspension combination of 41 mm cartridge-type USD fork adjusts for spring preload and rebound damping at the front and Pro-link with rear shock preload adjustment at the rear. Even the braking setup of Honda X-ADV is quite premium with a pair of disc brakes at the front and a single disc brake at the rear.
Just like its overall styling, the Honda X-ADV is powered by a very off-beat engine and gearbox combination for a scooter. The engine in question is a four-stroke, liquid-cooled, 8-valve, L-twin, fuel-injected 745cc engine, which is paired to a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. This is the only scooter in the world which has an L-twin engine married to a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The engine is good enough to produce 54.8 PS of maximum power and 68 Nm of peak torque output. With a claimed fuel efficiency of 27 kmpl, the Honda X-ADV shows off its economic side as well.
This is one area where the Honda X-ADV could have been equipped a bit better than what it is. The scooter gets only the essentials on board in the form of a dual-channel ABS, the smart key system for keyless ignition and an engine kill switch.
One of the most niche two-wheelers around the world, the Honda X-ADV has created quite an unmistakable recognition for itself, both in terms of technology related to its mechanicals as well as visual appeal.

Now this bike can be ideally be labeled as an adventure bike. I am happy that I took the perfect decision of going for this bike. The bike will prove to be massively versatile in loads of aspects. Like the luggage capacity is more than adequate and you can carry chunk of your necessary belongings in the most organized manner.
As per me Honda X-ADV can neither be labeled as a scooter or a motorcycle but a mix of both. If you go by the engine quality or the transmission of this vehicle this is more of a motorcycle. But exterior looks wise you feel this more resembling a scooter. Thus while I ride on this I feel performance wise
Honda has been a benchmark for quality and consistency when it comes to manufacturing idle motorcycles. However, being a photographer by profession, commuting with heavy equipment is very common for me. As I could not take a car to every location, I asked my friends for suggestions, and they suggested me to consider Honda X-ADV as an option. Frankly, I’m
