Top 10 scooters and mopeds launched in Malaysia in 2025
As 2025 comes to an end, it’s time to rewind and explore the major highlights of the Malaysian automotive arena. We have already covered the top car launches of the year, and now it’s time to know the major scooters & mopeds that hit the local roads this year.
All-new Yamaha NVX
Photo from Yamaha- Hong Leong Yamaha Malaysia introduced the all-new NVX in Malaysia in September this year.
- The refreshed model features new body panels, new lighting signatures and a redesigned ergonomic seat with a noticeable separation between the rider and the pillion.
- It is offered in two variants - ABS and SP, priced at RM 11,998 and RM 14,998 (on the road, without insurance), respectively.
- Both are powered by a 155-cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder Bluecore VVA engine that delivers a maximum power of 15.1 hp at 8,000 rpm and a peak torque of 14.2 Nm at 6,200 rpm.
- This entry-level version comes equipped with a monochrome LCD metre, a traditional CVT gearbox, and a single-channel ABS. The SP variant, on the other hand, features a coloured console with Yamaha’s Y-Connect support, traction control, riding modes, and a new Y-ECVT transmission.
All-new Yamaha XMax and TMax Tech Max
Photo from Yamaha- The all-new 2025 Yamaha XMax and the Yamaha TMax Tech Max made their grand local debut at the Malaysia Autoshow 2025.
- The upgraded XMax benefits from cosmetic enhancements, new colours, and an updated instrument panel, while the new TMax Tech Max gets a few design tweaks, an upgraded Communication Control Unit, refined intake acoustics, and advanced riding aids such as Cornering anti-lock braking system and tyre pressure monitoring system.
- The Yamaha XMax is powered by a 249-cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine tuned to make 22.5 hp and 24.3 Nm. The TMax Tech Max, on the other hand, runs on a 562-cc DOHC parallel-twin engine delivering 47.6 hp and 55.7 Nm.
- The 2025 Yamaha XMax retails for RM 24,888, whereas the 2025 Yamaha TMax Tech Max is priced at RM 75,888.
All-new Honda X-ADV
Photo from Honda- Boon Siew Honda introduced the new X-ADV in March this year, featuring styling updates, new colours, and advanced technology, making it even more desirable.
- Priced at RM 69,999, the X-ADV is powered by a 745-cc 8-valve parallel twin-cylinder engine that generates 57.8 hp of maximum power and 69 Nm of torque.
- Among new advanced tech features are a new cruise control system, a new 5-inch full-colour TFT screen, Honda RoadSync smartphone connectivity, updated Smart Key system, auto-cancelling turn signals and USB-C charging port.
Aveta Nova
Photo from Aveta- The Malaysian bikemaker Aveta introduced two affordable scooters this year - Nova 125 and Nova 160 to address the practical needs of urban riders.
- The Nova 125 is powered by a 125-cc air-cooled, single-cylinder, SOHC, two-valve engine that produces a maximum power of 9 hp and a peak torque of 8.8 Nm. The Nova 160, on the contrary, runs on a 154.4-cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled mill capable of making 15.8 hp and 14.7 Nm.
- The Aveta Nova 125 is priced at RM 5,188, while the Aveta Nova 125 retails for RM 7,988 (excluding road tax and insurance).
Modenas Kriss 125 Fi
Photo from Modenas- The all-new Modenas Kriss 125 Fi entered Malaysia's kapchai segment in January 2025, priced at RM 5,620.
- Ideal for urban and suburban riding, this little cub features a stylish design and practical features such as an LED headlight, a Dual USB power socket, and more.
- At the core lies a 124-cc single-cylinder, two-valve air-cooled Euro 4-compliant engine that generates a maximum power of 8.44 hp at 8,000 rpm and a peak torque of 8.5 Nm at 6,000 rpm.
SoloEra Solo 2 EV
Photo from Blueshark Malaysia- After the Solo 1C, Blueshark Malaysia launched the Solo 2 electric scooter under its new sub-brand SoloEra in October this year.
- Designed for urban mobility, the SoloEra Solo 2 features rugged dynamics, intelligent features, and advanced swappable LFP battery technology.
- It is powered by a 4.0 kW rear wheel hub-mound motor and two LFP-type battery packs, offering a maximum NEDC-rated range of up to 140 km. It can potentially eradicate up to 3,500 kg of CO2 emissions per year.
- The SoloEra Solo 2 is priced at RM 6,399 (excluding registration and insurance).
Zontes 368G
Photo from Zontes- Zontes Distribution Sdn Bhd introduced the all-new Zontes 368G in Malaysia in January this year.
- It is an adventure scooter, featuring a bold design, a comprehensive feature set, off-road capabilities and a powerful engine.
- Priced from RM 28,800, the Zontes 368G is designed for urban commuting, long-distance travel, and light off-roading.
- It runs on a 368-cc, liquid-cooled, DOHC, single-cylinder engine, delivering 38.8hp of maximum power and 40 Nm of peak torque.
Ariic 318 GT
Photo from Ariic- A new Chinese brand, Ariic, entered the Malaysian market this year with the launch of the 318 GT maxi-scooter.
- Priced at RM 22,888, the Ariic 318 GT is powered by a 330-cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, DOHC engine capable of delivering 27.6 hp and 30.8 Nm.
- The scooter boasts aerodynamic styling with a V-shaped LED headlight, a TFT digital display and advanced features like a PKE (Passive Keyless Entry) smart key and front-facing dashcam.
WMoto Nexy+180
Photo from WMoto- WMoto Malaysia expanded its diverse lineup with the launch of the Nexy+180 scooter in October this year.
- It boasts a futuristic mecha style and comes equipped with several advanced features like all-around LED lighting, front dash cam, 6-inch TFT-LCD display, dual-channel ABS, and traction control.
- Priced at RM 8,988, the WMoto Nexy+180 runs on a 174-cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled, four-valve engine that delivers a maximum power of 18.2 hp at 8,500 rpm and a peak torque of 17.2 Nm at 6,500 rpm.
Yadea Velax EV
Photo from Yadea- The Chinese brand Yadea introduced Velax EV in August to further strengthen its presence in the Malaysian market.
- The Yadea Velax is an affordable and eco-friendly scooter, featuring a modern design, generous range, and practical features.
- It is powered by a 2 kW electric motor and a 72-Volt 30 Ah LFP battery, offering a driving range of up to 105 km and a top speed of 62 kmph.
- The Yadea Velax EV e-scooter retails for RM 7,099 in Malaysia.
