Honda NC750X Review 2024

Adventure bikes are nothing new to the Malaysian market. In fact, we already have a wide range of such motorcycles from the middleweight segment. The Honda NC750X is one such motorcycle that is built on amazing features and great qualities, enough to put it as a beast in the middleweight segment against the likes of the Triumph Tiger 800 and the Yamaha MT-09.

The adventure motorcycle is built on a very rugged and reliable frame that contributes to the riding dynamics as well. And to get to the mechanics, it is more like a conservatively powered option than some of its competitors, which again brings a completely different riding experience. It currently sells for around RM 52,000, which is approximately RM 2,000 less than its competitors.

Honda NC750X Design

The Honda NC750X is a conventionally styled adventurer tourer with aerodynamic elements. As for an example, the razor-sharp front cowl under the headlamp and the highly sculpted tank area makes wind deflection very breezy. The turn signal indicators are placed beside the headlamp, while a medium-sized windshield sits over it.

It is built on a diamond frame, which is known for its stiffness, that uses high-strength steel. It rides on 17-inch wheels at both ends where the front one is wrapped in 120 mm tyre while the rear has a thicker 160 mm rubber. It has a high kerb weight of 217 kilograms, which makes it a little on the heavier side.

NC750X Ride & Handling

Once you get your hands on the Honda NC750X, you ought to praise the way the bike handles. Despite being over 230 kilograms, it feels like a breeze while speeding or even manoeuvring in the traffic.

The power delivery is very linear and the humongous amount of torque is evident all throughout the rev range. The engine can pull effortless from a very low rev range without being laggy. The suspension is set at par with the requirement of an adventurer tourer to make the ride more comfortable and not very cushiony. The front wheel has the regular telescopic with a long travel while the rear has the Pro-link monoshock unit.

The handlebar is pretty wide and makes for a very upright sitting stance, even though the foot pegs are a little rear set.

Honda NC750X Engine & Fuel Consumption

The Honda NC750X has a smooth engine that does not need to be stressed out a lot. Plus, the high cruising speed can be sustained for a fairly long period of time too, thanks to the liquid cooling. There is a parallel twin-cylinder setup, each having four valve for better combustion that smoothes out the power and makes the motorcycle less vibey.

The 745 cc engine makes a maximum power of 54.04 hp and the highest torque of 68 Nm. However, what’s special about the numbers is that the maximum power and torque come at just 6,250 rpm and 4,750 rpm, respectively. To send the power down to the wheel, there is a 6-speed manual gearbox that is assisted by a wet multi-plate clutch.

NC750X Braking & Safety

As for the braking prowess of the Honda NC750X, the riders will barely need to be worried about. There are hydraulic disc brakes at both ends which do not have a lot of bites initially, but more off progressive. However, pull the lever harder and you will feel the pinch.

But even if there is a lot of bite on being pulled harder, you won’t feel unstable or unsafe as the ABS takes over and prevents the wheels from locking up. This means, even if you apply the brakes hard from a high speed, you won’t lose control.

Honda NC750X Verdict

The Honda NC750X does turn out to be a great alternative for the powerful (and expensive) options in the segment from the Triumph and Yamaha. However, it is to be noted that the affordability comes at the cost of low power from the engine.

And exactly so, the NC750X has the smallest displacement engine, and the power is significantly lower.
