Levis Motorcycles to make a comeback with V6 Cafe Racer
KUALA LUMPUR: Levis Motorcycles is one of the oldest British bike brands which is all geared up to make a comeback after 80 years. The last Levis motorcycle produced was back in 1938. With new hopes and exciting plans, the company is back with its latest model called as 2018 Levis V6 Cafe Racer.
Levis is taken from a Latin word that means ‘light’. After being inactive for more than 70 years, the company finally is back with its exclusive production, thanks to the inventor Phil Bevan and Head of Design Steve Kirk who has designed a bike around modular racing car engines.
The Cafe Racer is powered by a 1200 cc, V6 engine mounted across the stainless steel frame transversely. The engine is capable of churning out a max power of 122 PS and a peak torque of 120 Nm. Mated to a 6-speed gearbox developed by Levis, it will be offered in two options, chain and shaft final drive, depending on the future models it will be equipped on. The powertrain is still under development though. The company also plans to develop a supercharged version but not anytime soon.
What’s exclusive about the design of the V6 Cafe Racer is its billet aluminium machined wheels that are built in two halves, bolted together to seal them up. Once launched, the customers would be treated with six different V6 versions namely Cafe Racer, Flat Tracker, Urban Roadster and a couple of sports bikes.
A plenty of customization options are also available allowing customers to play with finish, exhaust, wheels, color and more. Out of the six versions, the Cafe Racer and the Urban Roadster will be showcased at the Goodwill Revival in September. The Levis Cafe Racer gets a starting price of 102,000 pounds, i.e. RM544,907.
