Malaysia gets a new retro-style scooter, the MODA Moca

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian home-grown motorcycle brand MODA has expanded its lineup with the launch of a new model, the Moca. It is a compact, lightweight, and easy-to-handle scooter that combines retro-inspired charm with modern practicality.

The MODA Moca price tag reads RM 3,988 (excluding road tax, insurance and registration). Included in the price is a 1-year warranty (or 10,000 km, whichever comes first) against manufacturing defects.

MODA Moca: Engine and specifications

MODA’s new compact scooter is powered by a Euro-4 compliant 108-cc single-cylinder, air-cooled SOHC engine that makes 8 hp of maximum power at 7,500 rpm and 8.5 Nm of peak torque at 7,000 rpm. Power is sent to the rear wheel via a CVT gearbox (V-belt drive).

MODA Moca: Design and features

The scooter looks quite trendy with colourful, gentle styling, smooth curves and rounded elements, highlighting its classic charm. It is combined with a clean, contemporary finish, integrating LED lighting at the front as well as the rear end.

The ergonomically designed scooter has a seat height of 738 mm, making it easy for many riders to reach the ground. Tipping the scales at 89 kg, the vehicle is easy to manoeuvre in tight spaces.

Ensuring a smooth and comfortable ride are conventional telescopic forks at the front and an absorber at the rear. The braking setup comprises a single hydraulic disc brake at the front and a drum brake at the rear, complemented by a combined braking system.
