Triumph to recall Street Triple R and RS trims
KUALA LUMPUR: Triumph is known to manufacture bikes that score high on both style and performance parameters. However, questing the brand's high-standard practices is the recent recall report that was released by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The NHTSA is an American Government agency that works on the motto “Save lives, prevent injuries, reduce vehicle-related crashes.”
As per the released report, Triumph will soon be recalling R and RS variants of its popular bike, the Street Triple. The said recall concerns to the motorcycles manufactured at Triumph Thailand’s plant between March 19th, 2017 and January 4th, 2018.
The reason behind Street Triple recall -
Well, according to the NHTSA, there is a manufacturing defect in the left-hand side switch cluster. Apparently, it was not sealed properly, thus making it susceptible to malfunction in case of water seepage. The switch cluster is connected to the headlight and turn indicators, which brings them under the breakdown zone. That is, during a downpour or similar condition, if water gets into the left-hand side switch cluster, it will first affect the lightning functionality of the bike.
Since both the headlight and turn indicators are vital for commuters safety, the NHTSA has issued an immediate recall notice. Sources close to the bike manufacturer said that company will soon notify owners with the defected bikes.
Triumph Malaysia is yet to come forward on the situation, as to whether or not the company imported bikes from Thailand manufactured on the mentioned dates. However, buyers with the Street Triple standard S variant need not worry, all is fine with your two-wheel possession.
