Suzuki GSX-R150 Design

The Suzuki GSX-R150 is designed to seek inspiration from the flagship GSX-R1000, which is evident from the way its bodywork looks. The full-faired design of the Suzuki GSX-R150 looks like a proper supersport design, which makes it look big for a 150cc motorcycle.

At the front, the Suzuki GSX-R150 gets a huge front fairing, in the middle of which is placed a vertically-stacked all-LED headlamp. This front face of the GSX-R150 will remind you of the GSX-R1000. The lower part of the headlamp is flanked by two angular daytime running LEDs, which give the lower part of the fairing a V-shaped appearance. The fairing also gets a transparent windscreen and rear view mirrors mounted on it.

The big-bike-like appearance of the Suzuki GSX-R150 is carried out on the side profile as well, with the side panels of the front fairing having an aggressive design for them. The overall design of the motorcycle looks in sync with the large fuel tank and long-tail section, which rises from below the rider’s seat of the motorcycle. The loud body graphics of the motorcycle make it looks even sportier. The engine, multi-spoke alloy wheels, exhaust pipe and the exposed frame member above the engine are all painted in black.

The rising tail section of the Suzuki GSX-R150 further gives it a super sport stance, with it getting a split seat arrangement and a higher perch for the pillion rider. The pillion seat is too small and is positioned at quite a height, which can be trouble for the pillion rider for long-distance comfort. The motorcycle has a large rear fender, and with the skinny rear tyre at the back, it might look a bit disproportionate to some. However, the LED tail lamp here looks attractive.

Like a proper supersport motorcycle, the Suzuki GSX-R150 gets a low-positioned clip-on handlebar setup, with a full-LCD instrument console behind it. This fully digital screen has a speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge, gear indicator, odometer, trip meters and clock. While it is packed with information, the small fonts can be hard to read while on the go.

GSX-R150 Ride & Handling

The Suzuki GSX-R150 showcases a proper supersport character even in the way it handles. The motorcycle gets conventional hydraulic telescopic forks at the front and a link-type mono-shock with a rectangular swingarm at the rear, which is tuned on a stiffer end to make it feel sporty while on the go. The motorcycle is armed with 90/80-17 front and 130/70-17 rear tyres, with single disc brakes at both ends.

Suzuki GSX-R150 Engine & Fuel Consumption

The Suzuki GSX-R150 has a four-stroke, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, 147cc engine, which is one of the most powerful sub-150cc engines produced ever by Suzuki. Mated to a 6-speed gearbox, this engine is capable of producing a maximum power output of 19 PS and a peak torque output of 14 Nm. As with all Suzuki engines, this particular engine also feels refined and smooth across the rpm range.

GSX-R150 Braking & Safety

The Suzuki GSX-R150 is an entry-level supersport, and to keep the costs accessible to most of its prospected buyers, many safety features, including the crucial inclusion of ABS have been skipped. Nevertheless, the Suzuki GSX-R150 comes with the unique premium feature of keyless ignition, which is a feature available only in much more premium motorcycles and scooters.

Suzuki GSX-R150 Verdict

The Suzuki GSX-R150 might not be a game-changer for a motorcycle which has arrived on the market with a new set of rules. Instead, it makes the competition stronger in true Japanese fashion, by focusing on core aspects like performance, styling and riding dynamics, and proving its excellence in all of them.
