A new electric scooter coming to Malaysia - the Blacksmith B3
KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia is scheduled to get a new electric scooter, called the Blacksmith B3. It is a Made in India vehicle that is powered by a 5 kW motor that churns out a maximum power of 19.4 hp along with a peak torque of 96 Nm. The electric motor is coupled to a 72-volt lithium-ion battery that is found under the Blacksmith B2. All this configuration helps the B3 electric scooter to achieve a top speed of 120 kmph along with a range of 120 km.
The battery takes four hours to get fully charged. The B3 can also use two battery packs at once which means it can offer a combined range of 240 km. In addition, Blacksmith B3 also comes along with a speed limiting feature wherein the top speed is electronically lowered. This specific feature helps it clear regulatory hurdles in several countries.
On the design front, the Blacksmith B3 showcases plenty of design features that make it look very modern. Also, a lot of its design clues are borrowed from the classic Vespa scooter. The new electric bike is fitted with patent-pending traffic signs that notify the riders about the approaching traffic on either side of the vehicle. Rear-view mirrors and tall windscreen highlight its modern character. On the other hand, giving the scooter a retro feel is the long single-piece saddle lend and side panels.
Apart from great looks, the scooter also offers fantastic storage solutions as well. They come in the form of a massive under-seat space along with a front box positioned close to the floorboard.
A turn-by-turn navigation system also benefits the setup. However, one gets the Google-Map style navigation system with the Ather 340 and Ather 450, the Indian rivals of the manufacturer.
There is a backrest that enhances comfort, and the saddle has a boxy design. At the rear, there is strip-style design like the front and the 3D ‘ Blacksmith’ branding which decorates the side panel.
Other modern features include alloy wheels and LED projector headlamps.
