Zero Motorcycles unveils all-electric SR/F, claims 200 kmph of top speed
KUALA LUMPUR: California-based firm Zero Motorcycles has launched a new electric motorcycle called the 2019 SR/F. The brand claims that their latest e-bike can reach a top speed of 200 kmph and charge from 0 to 95% within an hour, the two being the most highlighted features of the e-bike.
The SR/F is powered by a Z-Force 75-10 air-cooled permanent magnet motor with 189 Nm of torque available from zero rpm and rated at 110 hp at 5,000 rpm. The magnet motor engine draws the necessary power from lithium-ion battery packs that come in two options of 6.0 or 3.0 kW with a maximum capacity of 14.4 kWh.
The time required to charge the vehicle entirely is 2.5 hours for the 6.0W battery and 4.5 hours for 3.0W battery. Zero Motorcycles offers a rapid charge option as well, using which the charging time can be reduced to 1.5 and 1.8 hours from 6.0 kW and 3.0 kW batteries, respectively.
The e-bike has Kerb weight of 207 kg in the standard variant, which rises to 225 kg in the top-spec model. It comes with the seat height set at 790 mm and less cover for the motive parts keeping the overall design naked and the body light thus bringing high efficiency and improved mileage. The aesthetics of the body cuts give it a sporty look.
The SR/F’s mechanism includes a clutchless direct drive to the rear wheel using an HTD carbon belt. With power tank installed, the motor manages to pull the vehicle to a highest of 321 km on the highway and 251 km in the city. However, without the power tank, the range falls to 159 km at a speed of 89 kmph on the highway.
The 2019 Zero Motorcycles SR/F are available in two trim options - standard priced at USD 18,999 (RM 77,350) and premium available for USD 20,995 (RM 85,496).
