Modenas Kriss 110

For an entry-level moped, the Modenas Kriss 110 has been blessed with quite an aggressive and youthful design and has been crafted with a clear intent of alluring more young customers towards it. The design of the Modenas Kriss 110 feels slim and aggressive enough, with proportionately designed body panels having a sharp appeal to them.

The frontal design of the Modenas Kriss 110 is a combination of a pointy headlamp cowl and an equally pointy looking front fairing. The headlamp cowl has got an arrow-head shaped clear lens halogen headlamp and has a two-tone paint finish to it. The front fairing has pointy edges towards its upper corners and is integrated with sleek and vertical clear lens light assemblies towards its lower corners. These light assemblies come with clear lens turn indicators as well as pilot lamps. The pointy and high mounted front fender completes the look of the Modenas Kriss 110 from the front. 

The side profile of the Modenas Kriss 110 looks equally striking and pointy with sleek and edgy body panels. The lower part of the sides of front fairing come attached with edgy Y-shaped body panels, while the rear side body panels below the long single-piece seat are sleek and slightly curved while moving towards the rear. The long seat which the Modenas Kriss 110 is fitted with is well padded and contoured for two full-sized adults, The engine, as well as single exhaust, mounted sideways is finished in an all-black treatment, while the pillion footrest holder is finished in a silver theme.

The rear profile of the Modenas Kriss 110 is quite minimalist with a small tail lamp assembly just at the rearmost tip of the tailpiece, above which there is a big single piece pillion grab handle. The long rear fender below the tail lamp assembly comes fitted with LED turn indicators. The all analogue instrument console of the Modenas Kriss 110 is a simple affair though, which includes speedometer, odometer, fuel gauge and basic warning lights.

The Modenas Kriss 110 has been equipped with a decently modern chassis comprising of hydraulic telescopic forks at the front and dual-sided hydraulic coil springs at the back. The moped runs on 17-inch alloy wheels, which are shod with 70/90-17 tire at the front and 80/90-17 tire at the rear. A setup of drum brakes at both the ends work together for braking duties on this moped.

The Modenas Kriss 110 has been powered by the most powerful engine Modenas has got for a moped – a four-stroke, single-cylinder, air-cooled, 110cc engine. Coupled to a simplistic 4-speed gearbox, the engine of the Modenas Kriss 110 breathes out 6.7 PS of maximum power and 6.7 Nm of peak torque output. For a 110cc moped, these performance numbers might seem quite underwhelming, but in the real world, they turn out to be quite decent, thanks to the low kerb weight of the Modenas Kriss 110, which stands at just 97 kgs.

The Modenas Kriss 110 is very basic when it comes to safety and other features onboard.  Save for a lockable 6.6-litre of underseat storage space, which too is very small by segment standards or what the conventional scooters are offering at the moment, the Modenas Kriss 110 misses out other basic safety essentials.

The Modenas Kriss 110 is quite competitively priced as compared to its rivals from much more established two-wheeler makers. While it misses out on a number of standard features offered in today’s world, the aggressive-looking bodywork and agile handling do try to make up for them.
