Ford Bronco to debut in spring 2020
KUALA LUMPUR: Ford has announced the timeframe for its upcoming SUV, Bronco’s world debut, via a video. The SUV will be launched in spring as a precisely separate model from the Everest. Prior to this, Ford released a teaser from where the shape of the car was depicted.
All-new 2020 Ford Bronco gets a distinct boxy design and a tailgate-mounted spare wheel. Besides, buyers can opt from an option from three- and five-door models. It will be based on the same platform used by the next-gen Ranger, the mid-size truck. Like the platform, Bronco is reportedly to get the same powertrain configuration as Ranger. To mention, Ranger comes with an EcoBoost 2.3-litre turbo four-cylinder petrol engine, which is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission.
The car was announced at the 2017 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Ford’s CEO Mark Fields then said “There is so much love out there for the Bronco. If you look at that rugged SUV segment, over the last five years it’s like the second-fastest-growing segment within SUVs.”
While there are other SUVs in its range with other formats, Ford is unlikely to change its 4x4 format. Ford also mentioned at the time of the announcement that 2020 Bronco will be a global model. Joe Hinrichs, President of Ford America’s division mentioned “This is a no-compromise, midsize, 4×4 utility for the thrill-seekers who want freedom and off-road functionality with the space and versatility of an SUV. The Bronco is capable of conquering everything from your daily commute to gravel roads and boulders.”
As for now, no output figures have been declared. But it was previously disclosed the car would only be available in North America, the Middle East and Africa.
