More details on Maserati MC20 Cabrio out

KUALA LUMPUR: The new year 2022 has just begun and we are hearing so many good things already, all pertaining to the automobile industry of course. For instance Maserati’s new supercar, the MC20 Cabrio is getting ready and we have the official ‘spy shots’ as well.

It all proves that convertible supercars can never go out of style. They are and will continue to charm us.

Like always Maserati is seen having fun with the camouflage it uses to cover the car. This time the automaker has designed a cloud-themed wrap for the MC20 Cabrio. Overall, the camouflage is doing a superb job of hiding the details.

However, Maserati’s new drop-top flagship model is expected to benefit from a folding hard-top roof, like the ones seen on the Ferrari F8 Spider and other roofless McLarens. Apart from the roof, the Cabrio looks identical to the coupe, which is a good thing, as many including us believe that MC20 is one of the best looking cars in Maserati’s lineup.

The convertible version of the recently-launched MC20 coupe, based on a carbon fiber tub and won’t need much underneath to keep it stiff when the roof comes off. To compare, Ferrari’s F8 Spider puts up to 70 kg when de-topped, however, thanks to its carbon chassis, the McLaren 720S Spider is only 40 kg heavier than the coupe.

What will power the Cabrio?

Powering the MC20 Cabrio will be a mid-mounted, 3.0-litre V6 Twin-turbocharged mill making a maximum power of 621 hp along with a peak torque of 729.43 Nm. The power is sent to the rear wheels via Nettuno, an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
