2018 Ducati Scrambler 1100 finally lands on Malaysian shores

KUALA LUMPUR: Ducati Malaysia has finally launched the 2018 Scrambler 1100 in the country. Thus appending its lineup with two new models, the Scrambler 1100 Sport and the Scrambler 1100 Special. The launch took place at the Art of Speed show which also saw the launch of the 2018 Kawasaki Ninja 250.

The Scrambler 1100 was earlier showcased at the EICMA show last year where it earned a lot of praise from auto enthusiasts. The bike is almost all-new and not just an enhanced version of the Scrambler 800.

It tips the scale at 206 kg, which makes it 20 kg heavier than its smaller 800 cc counterpart. Additionally, it gains 1.5-litres of fuel tank capacity, now comes with a 15-litre setup. The seat height sees a variation of 20 mm, which now sits taller at 810 mm. The wheelbase has also been increased by 69 mm, now measures 1,514 mm.

Under the skin, the Scrambler 1100 gets a 1079 cc V-twin, air-cooled engine that generates 87 PS of max power at 7,500rpm and 88 Nm of peak torque at 4,750rpm, mated to a 6-speed transmission with a hydraulic wet clutch. The engine can also be seen on the Monster EVO 1100.

On the suspension front, the Scrambler 1100 Sport gets a 48 mm Ohlins USD front fork and a fully adjustable monoshock unit at the rear. The Scrambler 1100 Special, on the other hand, comes equipped with 45 mm USD Marzocchi front forks and a monoshock unit from Kayaba at the back.

For braking, the entire range gets a similar setup, that is a 320 mm twin discs with Brembo Monobloc M4.32 at the front and a single-piston calliper 245 mm disc at the rear.

While the Scrambler 1100 Sport gets cast wheels, the Scrambler 1100 Special comes with spoked wheels. Some other bits that help you differentiate between the two models are distinctive exhausts, tank trims, handlebars, mudguards, exhaust covers, and silver aluminium swingarm on the Special and a black on the Scrambler Sport.

As far as pricing is concerned, the Scrambler 1100 Sport is priced at RM 85,000 while the Scrambler 1100 Special gets a price tag of RM 83,000, both come with zero-rated GST.
