2021 Ducati Hypermotard 950 debuts in Europe

KUALA LUMPUR: Ducati has pulled the wraps off the all-new Hypermotard 950 range for the European market. The significant updates for the fun bike comprise a new 'SP' livery, Euro 5 compliant engine, and a few cosmetic tweaks here and there. The new model will be available in three versions - Hypermotard 950, Hypermotard 950 RVE, and Hypermotard 950 SP.

All three models carry the same engine setup, that’s the same 937-cc Testastretta 11° twin-cylinder unit, capable of generating maximum power of 114 hp at 9,000 rpm and a flat-cornered torque of 96 Nm at 7,250 rpm. Although power and torque levels ​​remain the same, the re-tuned engine fulfills Euro 5 anti-pollution regulations.

Ducati engineers also re-tuned the 6-speed gearbox unit to make it easier to engage neutral when the motorcycle is stationary and to ensure maximum precision in gear selection.

On the designing front, the new Hypermotard 950 continues to feature a typical supermoto design, comprising an exposed mill and frame look, a flat seat, high and wide handlebar, flat rubbers, and twin under-seat exhausts. Ducati introduced a new livery for the SP version, which is inspired by MotoGP colours - red and white. It shows off ‘freestyle sports’ through graphic lines, detailing the dynamic and fun character of the sporty bike. It also gets a carbon fibre finish on the front mudguard and belt covers. 

On the other hand, the standard version has only a red colour scheme, while the RVE model gets a funky graffiti style paintwork.

As for suspension, the SP variant carries a 48 mm Ohlins USDs up front and an Ohlins mono-shock at the back along with Marchesini wheels shod with Pirelli Diablo SuperCorsa tyres. However, the other two versions have 45 mm Marzocchi front forks and Sachs rear mono-shock. The models roll on regular alloy wheels wrapped in Pirelli Diablo Rosso III tyres.

In terms of electronic aids, the Hypermotard RVE and SP include traction control, power modes, wheelie control, three riding modes, and a bi-directional quick-shifter. 

Set to hit the European showroom next month, the 2022 Ducati Hypermotard price for the base variant starts at €12,890 (RM 65,139) and goes all the way up to €16,990 (RM 85,858) for the SP variant. We hope to see the new version in Malaysia soon.
