Ducati Scrambler Icon Design
The Ducati Scrambler Icon might have been in the market for quite a long time now, but it still retains the charm of a premium and desirable motorcycle for those who want something to upgrade from a sub-500cc motorcycle. The motorcycle has a lean and tall stance, and while it might not be having the visual bulk and sharpness of a naked roadster, it looks like a proper big motorcycle.
At the front, the Ducati Scrambler Icon has a rounded headlamp, which comes surrounded by a circular daytime running LED and flanked with LED turn indicators. This entire rounded headlamp is surrounded by a silver garnish, which itself sits within a blacked-out housing. The Ducati Scrambler Icon comes with a compact front fender, which is placed slightly higher above the front wheel.
The side profile of the Ducati Scrambler Icon has a long and slim fuel tank as its main design highlight, which comes garnished with a brushed aluminium finish for most of its part. The entire twin-cylinder engine fills in the area below the fuel tank while sitting within a blacked trellis frame. The exhaust pipes coming out of the engine in a curved manner loo compact and have a stubby end can. The alloy wheels of the motorcycle too are finished in a theme of black
The second half of the Ducati Scrambler Icon is mostly covered by the long and thick seat, though pillion comfort compromises a bit due to the absence of proper grab handles for the pillion rider. At the back, there is a small LED tail lamp nestled between the seat and the tiny rear fender, the lower ends of which come attached with LED turn indicators. There is a rear tyre hugger, which also comes with a license plate holder.
The rounded fully-digital instrument console looks compact but has several kinds of information, including a speedometer, tachometer, gear indicator, odometer, trip meters, and clock. It now also gets a fuel gauge, which was not there in the previous version of the motorcycle. The handlebar of the motorcycle is almost flat and comes adorned with high-quality switches on both sides.
Scrambler Icon Ride & Handling
Sitting on a tubular steel trellis frame, the Ducati Scrambler Icon comes with a suspension combination of 41mm upside-down hydraulic telescopic forks from Kayaba at the front and pre-load adjustable mono-shock from Kayaba at the rear. Riding on 110/80 R18 front and 180/55 R17 tyres with big tread blocks, the Ducati Scrambler Icon is capable of taking bad roads like a boss, but serious off-roading is not recommendable on this motorcycle. The Ducati Scrambler Icon has a braking combination of a 330mm disc at the front and a 245mm disc at the rear.
Ducati Scrambler Icon Engine & Fuel Consumption
The Ducati Scrambler Icon is powered by a potent four-stroke, L-Twin, liquid-cooled, 803cc engine, which comes paired to a 6-speed gearbox and produces 73 bhp of maximum power and 66.2 Nm of peak torque output. The engine is refined and offers plenty of torque in the lower and midrange, which makes it an effortless motorcycle to ride at lower city speeds.
Scrambler Icon Braking & Safety
The Ducati Scrambler Icon gets the mandatory inclusion of a dual-channel ABS, and there is a Ducati Multimedia system to keep your motorcycle’s data on track. Being a premium middleweight motorcycle, we would have loved to see more safety features in the Ducati Scrambler Icon.
Ducati Scrambler Icon Verdict
The Ducati Scrambler Icon offers a simple big bike riding experience. It is not your new-age Ducati motorcycle packed with modern features and electronics, but a plain old-school machine with a decent visual appeal and a mechanically-sounded engine and chassis. The lean profile, low kerb weight, and almost flat handlebar make it an absolute charmer in urban riding conditions.
