KUALA LUMPUR: The wholly Malaysian-owned brand Aveta entered the local automotive arena in 2020 to target the cost-conscious side of the bike market. Engine

Touted as the “ultimate super moped” by the brand, the Aveta SVR180 is powered by a 175-cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled DOHC engine generating a maximum power of 16.8 hp at 8,500 rpm and a peak torque of 15.5 Nm at 8,500 rpm. The power is transmitted to the rear wheel by a six-speed gearbox paired with a final chain drive.

    Design and features

Styling-wise, the front fascia of the bike looks inspired by the Kawasaki Z1000. It is kitted with an LED headlamp and integrated daytime running light. The bike rolls on 17-inch wheels shod with 90/80 front and 120/70 rear tyres and communicates the essential information to the rider with the help of a fully digital instrument cluster. Also part of the kit is a radiator guard and a USB charging outlet.

    Suspension & braking

As for suspension, Aveta’ new motorcycle gets a telescopic fork at the front and a monoshock arrangement at the rear. The braking duties, on the other hand, are managed by disc brakes on both the axles. One thing which is quite disappointing on this front is the absence of the anti-lock braking system as it is likely to be compulsory among the kapcai segment in Malaysia.
