Lexus EV to wrap off in China soon
KUALA LUMPUR: Lexus is all set to reveal its first-ever fully electric model on November 22, 2019. The unveiling will be taking place at the Guangzhou International Automobile Exhibition in China. The brand majorly focuses on the US market, but it is primarily targetting China for this EV.
The Lexus EV was showcased at Tokyo Motor Show 2019 in Japan as the LF-30 concept. During the event, it was revealed that it has an aggressive style with a gullwing door. Unfortunately, the aggressiveness is likely to be toned down in the production model.
The LF-30 concept at the show revealed the dimensions with the length, breadth, and height being 5090 mm, 1995 mm, and 3,200 mm, respectively. The car weighed 2,400 kg consisting of four electric motors with one combined on each wheel. The combined output of the model was reported to be 536 hp with a 700 Nm torque. The engine could accelerate its speed from 0 to 100 kmph in 3.8 seconds and go all the way up to 200 kmph. It had a 110kWh battery with wireless charging facility with a WLTP certification till a range of 500 km.
The Japanese brand has not revealed any additional details regarding the new Lexus EV yet. However, an earlier report mentioned that this pure EV line is going to adopt some styling features from the LA-SA 2015 concept, which was designed and conceptualised by Lexus European Design Studio.
The exterior of LA-SA had a sharp-look with spindle grille placed in an angular pattern. It consisted of several concave and convex design surface with the cabin layout completed with a sweeping dashboard and adjustable front seats. The report said that the premium brand would soon extend its cycle to three EVs by 2021.
