Mitsubishi launches Eclipse Cross at GIIAS 2019

KUALA LUMPUR: Mitsubishi first previewed the Eclipse Cross in February 2017, and now taking forward the sports car name, MMC has introduced an SUV in Indonesia.

The Eclipse Cross SUVs dimensions sheet reads the car to measure 4,405 mm in length, 1,805 mm in width, and 1,685 mm in height. Thus, making it 110 mm longer, 35 mm wider, and 60 mm taller than its sportier version, the ASX compact crossover. Do you remember the Mitsubishi XR-PHEV concept? At the front, the car features Mitsubishi’s signature Dynamic Shield look. However, it’s the rear that’s unique and grabs maximum attention. The LED taillight like the one seen on Honda CR-Z stretches across the windscreen. The third brake light is located along the dividing bar, and when lit, it connects the two tail lights.

What you see in the images is a car in ‘highly-refined finish’ red paint that has been recently introduced by the brand. Called the Red Diamond, this exquisite tone features a clear coat over the standard base coat along with a semi-transparent red coat. And as expected is available at a small extra price over the pearl white and black exterior tone options.

The cabin of the Eclipse Cross resembles that of Lexus NX, well that’s mainly because of the cliff-like centre console bordered in silver metal trim. It also features the Lexus remote touchpad, that Mitsubishi calls touchpad controller.

Powering the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross is a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbo MIVEC engine that pumps out 150 PS of maximum power and 250 Nm of peak torque at 2,000 to 3,500 rpm. The power is sent to the front wheels by an 8-speed manual gearbox with an INVECS-III CVT.

The Indonesian-spec will be available in only one trim option, i.e., the highly-specified Ultimate variant. Standard gears include a head-up display, projector LED headlamps, 18-inch alloys (with 225/55 tyres), auto headlamps and wipers, electronic parking brake with auto hold, panoramic sunroof, black leather upholstery with orange stitching, heated front seats, and keyless entry and push start.
