2019 Harley-Davidson FXDR 114 gets a life

KUALA LUMPUR: The iconic American automotive giant, Harley-Davidson has introduced a modern-looking motorcycle, the 2019 FXDR 114, with ostentatious looks and solid power mill under the skin. The power cruiser from the company’s Softail range now comes with ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) as standard and uses lightweight components, that allows it to tip the scales at just 303 kg.

Weight reduction has been one of the prime objectives for H-D. As a result, the new FXDR 114 has been bestowed with an aluminium swingarm instead of a steel Softail swingarm, allowing it to shed an additional of 4.62 kg. However, the weight aspect wasn’t restrained here as the cruiser gets aluminium tubing sub-frame clad combined with a lightweight tail section that further reduces the overall weight by 3.2 kg.

Under the flesh, it gets the Milwaukee-Eight 114, V-twin 1868 cc powermill that is capable of producing a peak power of 160 PS at 3,500 rpm. As usual, the power figure hasn’t been disclosed by the company.

Suspension duties on the FXDR 114 are handled by an inverted 43 mm front fork and a monoshock unit at the rear. While for braking, the cruiser uses 300 mm fixed discs with four-piston callipers at the front and a single floating disc with a two-piston calliper at the rear.

The H-D FXDR 114 rides on forged aluminium Ace wheels that get thin spokes while keeping the weight under checks. At the front, there is a 19-inch spoked wheel and at the back, it gets an 18-inch wheel with 240 section rubber, typical H-D styling for its Softail range. For easy cruising, seat height has been kept at 720 mm.

Talking about the electronics, the new H-D FXDR 114 gets all-LED lighting and a 5.4 cm LCD display for essential readouts. The cruiser boasts a fuel tank of 16.7 litres which is good for long hauls. Additionally, it gets convenience features like H-D Smart Security System, keyless ignition, and a welcome USB charging port.

The 2019 Harley-Davidson FXDR 114 is available in six different color shades, including Rawhide Denim, Bonneville Salt denim, Wicked Red Denim, Industrial Gray Denim, Black Denim, and Vivid Black.

The starting price you need to spare for the ‘power cruiser’ is USD 21,439 (RM87,964) while this figure goes up to USD 21,749 (RM89,290) depending on your choice of colour.
