Blueshark Malaysia opens 10 new BlueStations; making battery swapping more convenient

KUALA LUMPUR: The subsidiary of Shark Gulf Technologies Group, Blueshark Malaysia, launched the R1 and R1 Lite fully electric scooters one year ago. Offering a driving range of 110 km, the Blueshark EVs are offered with a full-fledged battery swap program, allowing customers to quickly and easily swap their battery pack with a fully charged one.

    Blueshark, Malaysia's first battery swap infrastructure, plans to expand nationwide, starting from the Klang Valley and extending to Johor and Penang, with 50 BlueStations targeted by end-2024. 

    BlueSwap Battery Subscription Plans include - BlueSwap Lite (RM 59 per month, up to 36 battery swaps), BlueSwap Standard (RM 99 per month, up to 70 battery swaps), BlueSwap Pro (RM 139 per month, up to 120 battery swaps) and BlueSwap Flex (RM 1.95, pay-per-swap).

    • The base-spec R1 Lite is priced at RM 7,190 while the top-spec R1 retails for RM 9,390
    • The EVs come powered by a rear hub-mounted electric motor generating 6.7 horsepower and 201 Nm of torque

    • Feeding the motors is a set of battery packs with a total capacity of 2,880 kW, offering a driving range of 110 km
    • The battery pack juices up in 3.5 hours at home with a charging cradle and is capable of more than 2,000 full charging and discharging cycles
    • The top-spec Blueshark R1 comes with advanced features such as 10-inch full-colour HD IPS, 74 sensors, dual cameras & dual ultrasonic sensors, ArkRide Smart OS, Bluetooth connectivity, built-in speakers, OTA updates, driving recorder, On-Scooter Navigation
