2019 KTM off-road range launched in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: After transforming the all-terrain motorcycle scene in 2016, KTM has announced and launched their latest off-road range for 2019. The 2019 KTM off-road range in stronger, powerful, lighter, nimbler, and innovative than ever before. KTM is all set to raise the bar even higher with these fantastic machines.

2019 KTM 250 SX-F

At the hearts of the new two-stroke motocross SX and four-stroke supercross SX-F range are the same engines derived from the powerful 2017 model. The 125 SX, 150 SX, and 250 SX engines are all equipped with new cylinders, and incorporate fresh power valves that deliver a seamless powerband throughout the engine’s RPM range.

There is a new diaphragm steel (DS) clutch for the KTM 125 SX, 150 SX, 250 SX-F, and 350 SX-F. This was developed explicitly for off-road riding and is more reliable as well as requires less effort at the lever. The one-piece clutch basket with perforations at the rear along with the high-strength steel primary gear made from billet reduce the weight by 190g over normal clutch. Friction discs are now pre-tensioned by the diaphragm spring and are also extremely heat-resistant. The drivetrain specialists, Pankl make gearbox.

250 SX-F SIDE

On the other hand, 450 SX-F, KTM’s flagship in this segment receives an engine with new SOHC cylinder head that is 15 mm lower, more compact and 500 gm lighter. Rigid intake rocker arms are coated with the diamond-like coating material and activate four lightweight titanium valves. With new low friction chain-guides and other improvements mentioned above together yield an impressive 11,500 RPM peak engine speed. A new Keihin EMS (Engine Management System) provides optimal atomization of the fuel/air mixture for much quicker combustion thereby enhancing throttle response and power delivery as well.

KTM did not just concentrate on improving the engines but instead revised almost every aspect of the new bikes. The new frame precise welded by robots consists of hydroformed chromium molybdenum steel tubes. This new frame is tuned for specific flex characteristics to enhance handling, high-speed stability and comfort. The WP AER forks have been improved even further by the new damping settings and are now clamped in new stiffer CNC machined triple clamps.

250 SX-F FRONT

For the 2019 SX models, a new cooling system has also been developed using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). The radiators now have a lower centre of gravity and even get new protectors to shield against flying debris around the radiators. To provide better ergonomics and easy movement for the rider, the seat has also been revised with silicone strips for more grip, which was previously available only as a PowerPart. For improved starting, lower-weight and long-lasting lifespan, a Lithium-ion battery has been and new fuel pump routing is optimised as well. With these components, highest benchmarks were achieved for performance, playful handling with the lowest weight of 100kg.

KTM Malaysia has got in only select models from the 2019 Off-road Range. The 250 SX-F price starts from RM 38,500.00. Watch this space for more news and updates regarding the 2019 KTM SX and SX-F range.
