2021 Ducati Multistrada V4 debuts with Granturismo engine
KUALA LUMPUR: Ducati has released the first episode of the five-part web series “2021 World Premiere” that showcased the 2021 Ducati Multistrada V4, the long-awaited ADV model that is said to be the most versatile Ducati ever. The latest V4 model has been teased, leaked, and spied several times for a couple of years, but now we have got the full details on the new iteration.
The new Multistrada is leaner, lighter, and packed with a bunch of first-in-industry technologies. It comes In three trims - V4, V4S, and V4S Sport powered by V4 Granturismo engine, which is a touring version of the V4 Stradale mill.
The 1158cc Granturismo unit churns out 170 horsepower at 10,500 rpm and a peak torque of 125 Nm at 8,750 rpm with extremely smooth operation at low revs. For transmission, there is a 6-speed gearbox with Ducati Quick Shift (DQS) system. The engine weighs 1.2 kg less than the Multistrada 1260’s Testastretta DVT V-twin, and it requires an oil change every 15,000 km, while the valve check or adjustment comes at every 60,000 km interval, which is first in the industry. With a 22-litre fuel tank, the bike’s overall weight is claimed to be 215 kg.
In terms of design, the 2021 Ducati Multistrada V4 carries the iconic Italian ADV bike appearance where form blends perfectly with function. Upfront, there is a refreshed headlight inspired by the sporty Panigale series comprising full-LED setup and DRLs with cornering illumination function. All the elements ranging from the Perspex windscreen to the beak have been designed for supreme aerodynamics and thermal comfort.
The V4S and V4S Sport get Akrapovic titanium and carbon-fibre exhaust and front mudguard. The latter also features a unique Sport livery with wheels painted in gloss black.
The bike’s 6.5-inch TFT color instrument panel can be teamed up with Ducati Connect System for smartphone mirroring, navigation, and access to various other vehicle settings. Ducati also brought a comprehensive radar-based rider assistance system with the latest iteration. Developed in partnership with Bosch, the system provides functions like adaptive cruise control and blind-spot detection.
Other key highlights of the all-new Ducati Multistrada V4 are:
- Double-sided swingarm with a light monocoque frame
- Semi-active Marzocchi electronic suspension system (170 mm at the front and 180 mm at the back) with the Ducati Skyhook system.
- Spoke wheels wrapped in 120/70-R19 front and 170/60-R17 rear Pirelli Scorpion Trail II rubbers.
- Four riding modes - Sport, Touring, Urban, and Enduro, with different suspension and ABS settings.
The 2021 Ducati Multistrada V4 price has not yet been revealed by the bikemaker, but it is expected to hit the showrooms in early 2021.
