Damon Hypersport electric superbike gets two exotic trims

KUALA LUMPUR: It was only in January that Damon Motorcycles showcased the Hypersport electric superbike, and the brand also revealed its prices. Back then, the motorcycle was introduced in two variants - Hypersport HS and the range-topping Hypersport Premier. Both priced at USD 24,995 (RM 108,418) and USD 40,000 (RM 173,504), respectively. And now the electric bike gets two additional variants for the Premier trim - Midnight Sun and Arctic Sun.

Damon Hypersport HS

One of the reasons to introduce the new variants is that the 25-units limited-edition Premium version, also known as the Founders Edition, sold out just in four-days of its unveiling. The two new options benefit from a new color scheme and costs the same as the Founders Edition electric superbike. Owing to the Brembo braking components, Ohlins suspension setup, and a single-sided swingarm, the three versions are expensive compared to the Hypersport HK.

All three versions are powered by a liquid-cooled electric motor that churns out 22 PS of peak power. The bike can propel from 0 to 100 kmph in under 3 seconds and has a top speed of 320 kmph. Also, it claims an applauding range of 320 km, thanks to a 21.5 kWh liquid-cooled battery pack. The company claims the batteries can be charged fully in under 3 hours via a Level 2 charger.

Besides, the Hypersport gets two fantastic features called Copilot and Shift. The Copilot is a 360-degree advanced warning system that warns the rider of obstacles through haptic feedback on the handlebars, always-on rear camera feed displayed on the dashboard, and LED's on the windshields. Shift, on the other hand, allows the rider to switch the riding position from commuter to sporty at the touch of a button. The seat, windscreen, and footrest electronically adjust to the two modes - commute mode and sport mode.

All three variants - Hypersport HS, Artic Sun, and Midnight Sun are available for pre-order, and they'll go on sale by the end of 2021.
