Yamaha XMax 300 Tech Max rollout begins; first 200 units handed over to customers

KUALA LUMPUR: Hong Leong Yamaha Motor (HLYM) introduced three new models at the 2026 Yamaha GenBlu Carnival event, back in August. One of these newly introduced models is the XMax 300 Tech Max, which marks the brand’s entry into the mid-scooter category. 

HLYM recently handed over the first 200 units of the XMax 300 Tech Max to customers through a nationwide programme held simultaneously across Malaysia, hosted by authorised Yamaha Big Bike dealers.

Designed for urban commutes and long-distance touring, the Yamaha XMax 300 Tech Max offers enhanced performance and premium comfort with improved ergonomics and refined finishing. The scooter is priced at RM 28,499 (excluding road tax, insurance and registration) in Malaysia. The key highlights are as follows -

• The scooter is powered by a 292 cc, single-cylinder SOHC Blue Core engine, making 28 PS at 7,250 rpm and 28.9 Nm at 5,750 rpm. Power is sent to the rear wheel via an automatic CVT transmission.
• It rides on 15-inch front and 14-inch rear wheels wrapped with 120/70-15 and 140/70-14 tyres, respectively. 
• The suspension setup carries telescopic front forks and twin preload-adjustable rear shock absorbers. As for braking, there is a single hydraulic disc with a two-piston calliper at the front and a single hydraulic disc with a single-piston calliper at the rear.
• The scooter features a premium leather-style seat and a spacious underseat storage compartment accommodating up to two full-face helmets.
• It comes equipped with a wide range of advanced features, including LED lighting, a 4.2-inch full-colour TFT display with smartphone connectivity via Yamaha’s Y-Connect application, Traction Control System, keyless start, a two-channel anti-lock braking system, and Emergency Stop Signal (ESS).
