Yamaha 135LC turns 20 in Malaysia, New colours and Limited Edition model launched

KUALA LUMPUR: One of the most liked cubs in Malaysia, the Yamaha 135LC, has completed 20 years in the country. To commemorate this milestone, Hong Leong Yamaha Motor (HLYM) has introduced new colours and a special 20th Anniversary limited edition variant for this legendary underbone model. 

“For 20 years, the Yamaha 135LC has been the choice of generation after generation, building a legacy that lives on Malaysian roads,” says HLYM.

The Yamaha 135 LC 20th Anniversary Limited Edition is offered in Celeste shade and features a 20th Anniversary basket with a unique serial number. Limited to 5,000 units, this special anniversary model is priced at RM 8,798 (excluding road tax, insurance, and registration). The other three new shades are Matador Red, Tank White, and Samba Green, which are available at RM 8,298.

Yamaha’s popular kapchai continues to feature the same design and equipment. It features a compact front fairing, V-shaped LED headlamp mated to pilot lights, an aggressive-looking handlebar cowl, a digital speedometer, and a vertical LED tail light. The moped runs on 17-inch wheels wrapped with 70/90-17 front and 80/90-17 rear tyres.

Powering the Yamaha 135 LC is the same tried and tested 135-cc, Euro 4 compliant 135 cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine, which delivers a maximum power of 9.3 kW at 8,000 rpm and a peak torque of 12.2 Nm at 6,000 rpm. The power is sent to the wheel via a four-speed transmission mated to a chain final drive system.

The suspension setup comprises non-adjustable telescopic forks at the front and a preload-adjustable monoshock unit at the back. Handling the braking duties are hydraulic discs at both ends. 

The 2026 Yamaha 135 LC is now available at all Yamaha authorised dealerships across the country. It is offered with a 2-year or 20,000 km warranty against manufacturing defects and a free disc lock worth RM 100.
