Brixton CrossFire 150 XS Review 2024

The Brixton Crossfire 150 XS is one of the most affordable motorcycles from the British two-wheeler major in the Malaysian two-wheeler market. While the Crossfire is a sub-brand from Brixton which offers a range of café racers, the XS models in the lineup are more traditional scramblers, with the Crossfire 150 XS being the second model in the family after the Crossfire 125 XS. The Brixton Crossfire 150 XS has been launched in Malaysia in three matte colour options – Backstage Black, Cargo Green, and Clockwork Orange.

Brixton CrossFire 150 XS Design

For a functional-looking scrambler, the Brixton Crossfire 150 XS hits the sweet spot with its purist scrambler look. The high-raised stance of the motorcycle, courtesy of the high ground clearance and fenders, makes the motorcycle look purposeful.

At the front, the Brixton Crossfire 150 XS gets a retro-styled fascia which has a rounded LED headlamp sitting within a stylised cowl. This front fascia sits a bit lower and comes fitted with a chopped and almost-squared front fender at the bottom of it. The LED turn indicators are mounted on the upper sides of the front cowl.

Looking at the Brixton Crossfire 150 XS from the side, the motorcycle has a unique-looking edgy, and almost trapezoidal fuel tank, which looks sharp and functional at the same time. Adorned with graphics, this geometrically-shaped fuel tank is accompanied by a smaller trapezoidal side body panel below it.

The Brixton Crossfire 150 XS comes with a long and almost café racer-like seat that flows from the upper edge of the fuel tank at its back to the edge of the tail section. Meanwhile, the engine and alloy wheels have been given an all-black theme to go with the purposeful look of the whole motorcycle.

The rear profile of the Brixton Crossfire 150 XS looks very minimalistic, with a high-flowing exhaust pipe having an old-school shroud over it. A small LED tail lamp sits at the back of the tail section of the motorcycle, while the compact rear fender has tiny rounded LED turn indicators placed on its upper corners.

Behind the high-positioned curved handlebar, which has a rubber grip placed over the connecting bar at the top of it, the Brixton Crossfire 150 XS gets a rounded full-LCD instrument console integrated within the top of the headlamp cowl. This LCD screen displays speedometer, odometer, trip meters and fuel gauge, and looks pretty basic, just like the rest of the motorcycle.

CrossFire 150 XS Ride & Handling

Measuring 1690mm long, 755mm wide and 1210mm tall, the Brixton Crossfire 150 XS is a compact motorcycle, that has been given a dwarfed stance to make it an agile and fun-to-ride motorcycle even in the tightest of spaces. The motorcycle has 12-inch alloy wheels shod with knobby tyres – 120/70-12 front and 130/70-12 rear and comes with 220mm front disc and 190mm rear disc brakes. The suspension combination of upside-down telescopic forks at the front and a mono-shock at the rear are also tuned on a slightly stiffer side to make this motorcycle feel sporty around corners. However, due to the diminutive size of the motorcycle, it feels best as a single-seater motorcycle.

Brixton CrossFire 150 XS Engine & Fuel Consumption

The Brixton Crossfire 150 XS gets a slightly larger engine than the Crossfire 125 XS, which is a re-engineered version of the latter. The four-stroke, air-cooled, 150cc engine of the Crossfire 150 XS produces 13.6 PS of maximum power and 10.5 Nm of maximum torque output. While it feels more powerful than the 125cc Crossfire 125 XS, the difference is not too significant to make up a mark. A 5-speed transmission channels the power produced to the rear wheels via a chain drive.

CrossFire 150 XS Braking & Safety

To keep costs in check, Brixton has chosen not to equip the Crossfire 150 XS with premium safety features or riding aids. It even misses out on ABS but gets disc brakes at both front and rear wheels.

Brixton CrossFire 150 XS Verdict

For urban conditions, the Brixton Crossfire 150 XS is a sweet deal for its compact dimensions, decently punchy engine and agile handling, which makes it a friendly motorcycle for new riders.
