2021 Isuzu D-Max Malaysian launch on April 26
KUALA LUMPUR: Finally, the all-new third-generation Isuzu D-Max is ready to shake Malaysia's pickup truck segment with its bold and sporty style, strong safety shield, and revised mechanical setup. After the global unveiling in Thailand, Malaysia is the fifth country in the world to have the revamped model.
Here, the new Isuzu D-Max will be available in seven trims at a starting price of RM 88,599 for the single-cab variant, going all the way to RM 141,938 for the range-topping X-Terrain trim. Included in the price is an unparalleled 7-year unlimited mileage warranty.
In terms of exterior design, the 2021 D-Max looks more aggressive with its bolder and sportier styling. The pickup now has a stronger road presence thanks to its masculine frontal fascia and more athletic and dynamic stance. Alongside design, the automaker also worked on the pickup’s dimensions, the third-gen model has a longer wheelbase leading to a spacious cabin and larger load bed.
Inside also, much of the things are new giving the pickup a more modern and luxurious look. It includes the leather-wrapped steering wheel, contrast trimming, soft-touch surfaces at the main touchpoints, a 9.0-inch infotainment display, eight-way power-adjustable front seats, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, remote engine start, and so on.
On the mechanical front, Isuzu is offering the all-new D-Max in two engine options - 1.9-litre RZ-4E and a re-tuned 3.0-litre 4JJ-3TCX. The former generates a maximum output of 150 PS and a peak torque of 350 Nm, while the latter is good for making 190 PS and 450 Nm. The transmission pairing options are six-speed manual and automatic units.
As for safety, the new flagship X-Terrain model is loaded with a complete ADAS suite, including Lane Departure Warning, Autonomous Emergency Braking, Pedal Misapplication Mitigation, Forward Collision Warning, Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Automatic High Beam. Included in the list of standard safety bits are two airbags, electronic stability control, traction control, ABS with EBD and BA, hill start assist, and more. The pickup has scored a perfect five-star rating in the 2020 Euro NCAP as well as ANCAP crash results.
The Malaysian launch of the new D-Max will be held virtually on April 26, 2021, following which it will be available at all authorized Isuzu showrooms in the country for viewing and test drives.
