Porsche Taycan receives over 20,000 registrations
KUALA LUMPUR: The German automobile manufacturer, Porsche has received over 20,000 registrations for its upcoming car, the Taycan. However, the first Porsche electric vehicle is yet to see the light of the day. According to the company, the production form will debut in September, and the market launch will take place before the end of 2019.
The numbers are more than what the company expected, as the registration comes with a hefty price of 2,500 Euro (RM 11,540).
“The overwhelming interest in the Taycan shows us that our customers and fans are just as excited about the first Porsche electric athlete as we are - and we've therefore increased our production capacities. The Taycan will be the most sporty and most technically advanced vehicle in its segment - a true Porsche.", Detlev von Platen, Member of the Executive Board for Sales and Marketing, speaks on the achievement.
The Taycan is going to be a flagship electric car by Porsche and the brand’s founding stone in the arena of electric cars. Porsche also aims to have 50% of its cars to be electric by 2025.
The high performing luxury electric car will draw the necessary power from two synchronous electric motors that will churn a maximum power of 600 hp. The high voltage lithium-ion batteries will provide a travelling range of around 500 km. The vehicle will be able to sprint from 0 to 100 kmph in just 3.5 seconds.
Taycan will also support fast charging. Porsche claims that it will be able to travel 100 km with just four minutes of charge. Moreover, the 350-kilowatt, 800-volt fast-charging system can provide an 80 percent charge in under 20 minutes.
