Aether electric motorbike can clean the air around you

KUALA LUMPUR: Electric motorcycles are said to be environmental-friendly means of transportation as they are powered by cleaner energy and do not emit carbon monoxide. But, here comes a new electric motorcycle concept that can purify the air alongside the other benefits. You might be raising your eyebrows, but yes, the ambitious Aether electric motorcycle concept by Taiwanese designer Lin Yu Cheng is designed to filter the air as you drive. How does it work?

The edgy-looking design of the Aether sports two large air intakes on the front just right before each leg. These intakes naturally pull the air in, which is then directed to the Aether’s ceramic filter modules. The filter removes PM 2.5 microparticles from the air while the motorcycle is in motion, and then filtered and cleaner air passes through the exhausts on the opposite end. In this way, the Aether e-motorbike purifies the air around it, resulting in cleaner and less polluted air.

The concept also has an answer to the questions about the periodic maintenance/replacement of the ceramic purifier module. The system is designed in a way that the users can pop them out and wash the dirt off, to make them as good as new or can get them replaced often.

Not only this, but Lin Yu Cheng electric motorcycle is also equipped with a wireless charging function, which means it would be possible to charge the motorcycle without cable. However, this functionality would be limited to special parking areas.

Other than these innovative systems, the concept is typically an e-bike with an electric motor powered by a lithium battery pack and a chain driving the rear wheel.

Well, this is just an idea at the moment and there is no word yet on when it will become a reality. A similar idea was projected by Designer Daan Roosegaarde named Smog Free Project, which involved mounting air purifiers on the bicycle’s front, capable of purifying air as you ride.
