Hafizh Syahrin to receive special funds for the 2020 Moto2
KUALA LUMPUR: Following a forgettable season with KTM Tech3 where Hafizh Syahrin rode the KTM GP16, the Malaysian rider will receive special funds for his stint at the 2020 Moto2 racing season. Previously, Hafizh rode a Yamaha YZR-M1 in his 2018 rookie year.
The Angel Nieto team will receive the special funds via Sepang International Circuit, and Hafizh Syahrin will join Spaniard Aron Canet, who has taken an upward stride from Moto3. The latter had his Moto3 season with Sterilgarda Max Racing Team that was headed by Max Biaggi, a former MotoGP champion.
The announcement concerning the special funds was made by Youth and Sports Minister Syed Saddiq at KBS Gallery, where the launch of the national sports legend commemorative gold bars by the National Athletes Welfare Foundation (Yakeb) transpired.
"I have contacted Datuk Razlan Razali (SIC chief executive officer), and I will ensure Hafizh would be in action in Moto2 even though Petronas did not want to sponsor him", Saddiq said.
