Honda offers PCX Electric scooter in Japan on a lease-sale scheme

KUALA LUMPUR: Honda has commenced offering the PCX Electric scooter on a lease-sale basis. Company's main targets are the sole proprietors and the corporations. Initially, this offer is available in its domestic market only, but soon it will lease-sell the electric scooter in South-East Asia, debuting from the Philippines.

The PCX Electric scooter is based on the currently popular Honda PCX and is designed with the latest compact power unit called EF01M Interior Permanent Magnet engine. The engine is capable of generating a maximum power of 5.71 PS at 5,500 rpm and a peak torque of 18 Nm at 500 rpm. The engine motor structure helps in giving a robust, hassle-free take-off, and hill-climbing performance.

The electric power unit includes a double removable lithium-ion 20.8 Ah 48-Volt battery pack that can help to cover a distance up to 41 km on a single charge. You need to charge the PCX Electric’s twin battery packs for around six hours with the standard cable connector and approximately four hours if you use the optional external charger provided along.

The Honda PCX Electric scooter will be available in a single color option Pearl Glare White complimented with blue graphic inserts. The scooter weighs around 144 kg. The traditional wheelbase of the scooter has been retained, but the rear suspension has received some upgrades. The power unit is shifted more to the rear portion now. Multiple swingarms can also be counted among other notable modifications. The overall length is kept unchanged to ensure it is easy to handle and offers a comfortable riding experience.

Technologically speaking, the scooter is appropriately packed with several indicators, such as mobile power pack charge, clock, speedometer, etc. It features an instrument panel displaying EV system information in a clear-cut way. It also includes Honda Smart Key system.

2019 Honda PCX Hybrid scooter has been launched recently in Malaysia with price tag reading RM13,499. It is unlikely to avail the offer here anytime soon.
