KTM 790 Adventure R - Advanced prototype unveiled in Europe

KUALA LUMPUR: Last weekend, KTM revealed an advanced prototype of the KTM 790 Adventure R. The bike was unveiled at the company’s European Adventure Rally in Sardinia, Italy. This advanced prototype is not much different from the spy shots which were seen in action a while back. The KTM 790 Adventure’s design is quite intriguing when compared with other ADV bikes revealed by KTM. Even the eight times New Zealand Enduro champion Chris Birch agreed to this and shared his views on the bike. He said, “I'm honestly blown away by the new KTM 790 Adventure R.”

Engine

As far as the engine is concerned, this beautiful bike from KTM is accompanied by an RC8c 799cc engine, which is a parallel-twin mill and is powered by the 790 Duke. The engine has been tuned to get a wider spread of torque for the Adventure. However, the WP suspension is standard, and it is speculated that the KTM 790 Adventure R final production model will share a comprehensive electronics suite. This will also encompass lean angle sensors, which means the bike will be accompanied with traction control and cornering ABS.

Design

As far as the design is concerned, the 790 Adventure by KTM will be embracing low-mounted fuel tanks to keep the centre of gravity low. This will give better control to the rider. Interestingly, there are also adjustable ergonomics in the new 790 Adventure. This means that the handlebars and footpegs can be repositioned in accordance with the riding style and the preferences of the biker.

It is rumoured that in November 2018, a near-production model of the 2019 KTM 790 Adventure R would roll out at the EICMA show. Bike enthusiasts can keep their hopes high, as it is also expected that the KTM 390 Adventure will enter into the Philippines market somewhere next year.
