Bear 650 Scrambler: Retro Looks, Modern Performance

The all-new Royal Enfield Bear 650 is a true scrambler, inspired by 1960s California desert racing culture. Its design and engineering aim to deliver both street comfort and mild off-road readiness.

Royal Enfield says the Bear 650 is meant for riders who trust their instincts—just like Eddie “Fast Eddie” Mulder, the 16-year-old who won the 1960 Big Bear Run desert race. The bike pays tribute to that moment with a special edition livery called “Two Four Nine.”

The Royal Enfield Bear 650 is powered by a 648cc inline twin-cylinder engine with a 4-stroke SOHC setup, delivering 47.4 PS at 7,150 rpm and 56.5 Nm of torque at 5,150 rpm.

It features a 6-speed constant mesh gearbox paired with a wet multi-plate clutch, and runs a 9.5:1 compression ratio. Engine lubrication is managed by a forced lubrication system with a wet sump, and the bike holds a fuel capacity of 13.7 litres.

The motorcycle has a ground clearance of 184 mm, a wheelbase of 1,460 mm, and tips the scales at 214 kg (kerb weight). Overall, it measures 2,216 mm in length, 855 mm in width, and stands at 1,160 mm in height.

Rewi Hamid Bugo, Chairman of Didi Group (Royal Enfield’s local partner), expressed confidence in both bikes, noting that the Bear 650 embraces a scrambler DNA that’s “full-send” in attitude, while the Classic 650 refines what riders have always loved about the original Classic line.

Anuj Dua, Business Head for Royal Enfield in the Asia Pacific, added:

“The Bear 650 channels the spirit of raw instinct, sheer impulse, relentless determination, and embodies the ethos of a true scrambler mindset. We are sure this motorcycle will deliver confidence and performance for Malaysian riders.”
