All-new BMW M4 Competition Convertible debuts
KUALA LUMPUR: The BMW M4 Competition is followed by what you see above, the new M4 Competition Convertible with M xDrive. It will be manufactured at the automakers Plant Dingolfing starting July with the sales commencing shortly after.
The new M4 Competition Convertible is powered by a 3.0-litre twin-turbo straight-six petrol engine that makes a maximum power of 510 PS along with a peak torque of 650 Nm. The power is sent to all-four wheels via an 8-speed M Steptronic automatic transmission and M xDrive all-wheel drive system. It is to be noted that it is the same unit that powers the coupe and M3 sedan.
On the performance front, the new M4 Competition Convertible can complete the century sprint in just 3.7 seconds. Thus making it 0.2 seconds slower than the G82 with M xDrive and two tenths quicker than the old M4 CS. With the optional M Driver's Package, the car can hit 280 kmph of top speed, without it the figure falls down to 250 kmph.
Other performance related inclusions include -
- An electronically controlled multi-plate clutch
- An Active M Differential
- An M Mode button
Also, part of the package is an optional M Drive Professional package that adds functionalities like - M Traction Controls, Track mode, M Laptimer, and M Drift Analyser functions.
Furthermore, the new BMW M4 Competition Convertible gets a panel bow stop top with the fabric roof being 40 percent lighter. The roof not only takes less space, but also provides superior levels of thermal comfort and acoustics. The soft top takes 18 seconds to open and close and can be done at a travelling speed of up to 50 kmph. Customers can pick it in two hues - Anthracite Silver and Black.
Speaking of colours, BMW is offering the new M4 Competition Convertible in eight exterior tones including - Isle of Man Green, Sao Paulo Yellow, and Toronto Red, with other choices available via the BMW Individual program. Wait there’s more, customers can also order the ORVM caps in body colour and chrome finish for tailpipes.
