KUALA LUMPUR: The new quarter will take the auto industry to new highs and the work has already begun with BMW Malaysia opening its order books for its latest EV, the iX2 xDrive30. Interested buyers can now order the latest battery-electric vehicle via the automaker’s official website, however, you’ll have to hurry as the pre-order is limited to only 100 units.

On the car’s arrival Benjamin Nagel, Managing Director of BMW Group Malaysia said, "At the BMW Group, we are constantly in the pursuit of enhancing our offerings as we deliver Sheer Electric Driving Pleasure. The BMW iX2 xDrive30 exemplifies this commitment, marking its debut as the First-Ever All-Electric Premium Sport Activity Coupe within the BMW X2 class."

He further added, "This introduction underscores our position as the Number One Premium EV provider in Malaysia, a milestone achieved through our extensive efforts in the realm of Electric Mobility, with the delivery of over 3,600 units of BMW, MINI, and BMW Motorrad electrified vehicles in 2023."
In Malaysia, BMW is offering the iX2 in one single trim option, xDrive30, and today we’ll be discussing it in detail and see what all is on offer.

The Malaysia-spec model is priced at RM 282,800 (on-road without insurance) including a five-year, unlimited mileage warranty with free scheduled servicing, an eight-year, 160,000 km battery warranty, BMW Roadside Assistance and Accident Hotline, and BMW Service Online.

Interested customers can also opt for the BMW Service and Repair Inclusive package. At RM 14,200, it includes a full five-year warranty and service package, thus taking the car price to RM 297,000.

With a height of 1600 mm and a length of 4500 mm, the BMW iX2 exudes a comfortable feeling of space. Thanks to its 525-liter luggage compartment, the car is well-prepared for longer trips or transporting bigger items.

Powering BMW iX2 xDrive30 is a dual-motor setup for all-wheel drive which pumps out a maximum power of 313 hp along with a peak torque of 494 Nm. The motor is powered by a 66.5 kWh battery which offers a range of up to 449 km (WLTP testing protocol).

The dual-motor setup propels the electric BMW to complete the century sprint in just 5.6 seconds and attain a top speed of 180 kmph.

The automaker offers either a Flexible Fast Charger or a Wallbox that allows the owner to charge the EV at home in a safe, simple, and straightforward manner.

The all-new BMW iX2 xDrive30 showcases a modern yet sporty design language while maintaining an elegant yet dynamic facade for which the automaker is known. For instance, at the front, the electric crossover showcases a newly redesigned closed kidney grille with a black mesh grille and a high-gloss black frame with BMW Kidney Iconic Glow. The setup steals the show, especially in the dark with white light accentuating the distinctive contours (when the car is on the move or stationary).

Also part of the kit is adaptive LED headlights with BMW Selective Beam and 20-inch M light alloy wheels wrapped in 8J X 20 WITH 245/40 R20 tyres. The car’s lighting setup comes with innovative LED fiber tech that generates an eye-catching lighting effect that is visible when the car doors open, close, or when it is driven.

The car’s powerful appearance is enhanced by the M Sport package which includes a wealth of details and equipment that hone the vehicle’s look.
