All-new BMW iX3 makes its ASEAN debut in Thailand, stealing the limelight at BIMS 2026

KUALA LUMPUR: Globally revealed in September last year, the all-new second-generation BMW iX3 has made its official debut in the ASEAN region. The first ASEAN market to receive this latest BMW EV is none other than Thailand. 

BMW introduced the right-hand drive version of the EV at the ongoing 2026 Bangkok International Motor Show in a sole iX3 50 xDrive trim, with a starting price of THB 3,599,000 (RM 435,903).

Here’s all you need to know about the new BMW iX3 - 

New platform

The EV underpins the new Neue Klasse (New Class in German) platform, marking the beginning of a new era for the German automaker in terms of technology and charging capability. 

Dimensions 

The second-generation BMW iX3 measures 4,782 mm in length, 1,895 mm in width, and 1,635 mm in height, spanning a wheelbase of 2,897 mm. It has a rear luggage capacity of 520 litres (expanded up to 1,750 litres) and a 58-litre storage compartment at the front.

Exterior

The new iX3 features the brand's Neue Klasse design language, featuring vertically oriented kidney grilles replacing the previous horizontal units. Adding to its bold, new appearance are slim headlights with a new light signature, clean surfaces, flush-fitting door handles, and squared-off body coloured wheel arches.

Towards the back, we can find new, wide and vertically aligned angular tail lights paired with a refreshed bumper and a sporty rear spoiler.

Interior 

The cabin also gets the full Neue Klasse treatment, featuring a huge Panoramic Vision head-up display that spans across the width of the windscreen and projects driving-related information. At the centre lies a new 17.9-inch touchscreen powered by BMW’s new Operating System X that supports BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant, offering convenient access to navigation, entertainment, and other functions. 

Another key highlight is a unique steering wheel that looks like a floating unit connected by spokes at the 12 and 6 o’clock positions. Other features include - Panoramic glass roof, sport seats and sustainable fabrics or leather upholstery.

Drivetrain, range and charging

Built on an 800V architecture, the refreshed BMW iX3 runs on the new “Super-Brains” system, comprising four control units combined into one powerful computer, providing 20 times more processing power than current BMW cars.

The 50 xDrive variant is powered by a dual-motor setup that delivers a combined output of 469 PS and 645 Nm, 0-100 kmph acceleration time of 4.9 seconds, and a top speed of 210 kmph. Also part of the setup is a 108.7 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, which offers a cruising range of up to 805 km (on the WLTP cycle). 

As for charging, the EV supports up to 22 kW AC charging and 400 kW DC charging; the former takes 5 hours and 45 minutes for a 0 to 100% charge, while the latter provides 10 to 80% SoC in just 21 minutes.

The new BMW iX3 spearheads the brand’s latest innovations, marking a huge leap forward in terms of design, technologies, and driving experience.
