Lexus LX

The dual-tone black and beige-themed cabin of the Lexus LX is high on luxury, with it getting a host of new-age features and at the same time, retaining some of the traditional virtues of the previous-generation Lexus models. Case for instance, the Lexus LX has a traditional three-spoke multi-functional steering wheel, which is electronically-adjustable steering wheel and has an 8-inch full-TFT screen for the instrument console behind it. 

The centre console is dominated by a large 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system at the top, while the lower centre console has traditional physical buttons for the 25-speaker Mark Levinson audio system and four-zone automatic climate control with climate concierge. The Lexus LX also gets other premium and exclusive features like powered, heated and ventilated front and second-row seats, head-up display, analogue clock, cooled glovebox and cup holders, wireless charger, sunroof, ambient lighting and 11.6-inc rear seat entertainment screens.

Like the previous-generation versions, this new current-generation Lexus LX has a towering road presence which dwarfs other SUVs with its massive dimensions. The authoritative stance of the Lexus LX looks even better with the new-age elements on offer, such as the revised spindle-themed grille with chrome surrounds and horizontal slats. The angular headlamps with 3-beam LED projectors and boomerang-shaped LED DRLs look stylish, and so do the boomerang-shaped chrome housings for the LED fog lamps.

The Lexus LX looks even more commanding from the side, with the SUV having a heightened bonnet and roof line, high ground clearance and 21-inch machined alloy wheels. The window surrounds, door handles and side steps also get a chrome finish, with the LX also having slim black roof rails. At the back, the Lexus LX now gets an entirely new set of L-shaped combination LED tail lamps, which have L-shaped chrome garnish above them. 

With old-school ladder-on-frame architecture under its skin, the Lexus LX is bestowed with a full-time four-wheel drive, the hardware of which also includes a 2-speed transfer case and a variable fore-aft torque split system via a Torsen limited-slip differential. For effortless driving on both on-road and off-road conditions, the LX has six driving modes on offer – Normal, Eco, Comfort, Sport, Sport S and Custom, along with adaptive variable suspension, multi-terrain select, active height control and crawl control.

Both the variants of the Lexus LX on sale in the Malaysian car market get a 5.7-litre V8 petrol engine as standard. This old-school, naturally-aspirated V8 petrol engine delivers 362 bhp of maximum power and 530 Nm of maximum torque outputs, while enabling the LX to reach a top speed of 210 kmph and cover the 0-100 kmph sprint in 7.7 seconds. The standard transmission on duty is an 8-speed automatic gearbox. 

The Lexus LX is packed with advanced ADAS features like a front pre-collision system, dynamic radar cruise control with stop and go function, adaptive high beam assist, road sign assist, trailer sway control, active cornering assist, lane keep assist with lane tracing assist safe exit assist, blind sport monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, parking support brake and lane departure alert. It also has a multi-terrain monitor which gives an underfloor view for more assistance during hardcore off-roading. Other safety features of the LX include ABS with EBD and brake assist, electronic parking brake, traction control, hill start assist, tyre pressure monitoring system, vehicle braking posture control, vehicle dynamics integrated management, vehicle stability control, front and rear parking sensors, 360-degree parking camera, and seven airbags.

The Lexus LX continues to be a brute-looking mammoth SUV, which offers a luxurious experience on the inside and typical Japanese reliability in its powertrain and chassis components.
