MINI John Cooper Works

The Mini John Cooper Works 3-door retains the funky-looking neo-retro-themed cabin layout of the three-door Mini hatchback but has spruced it with contrast red highlights for the stitching job on the steering wheel, door pads, seats, and roof liner. This four-seater car looks and feels properly sporty from the inside, adding to the overall experience of the hot hatch.

The driver’s cockpit, comprising of a flat-bottomed round-themed multi-functional steering wheel and a full-TFT instrument console looks youthful. The rounded theme is carried forward for the buttons on the steering wheel, centre console and controls for the climate control functions, and toggle-like switches in the lower centre console. The Mini John Cooper Works 3-door also comes with an optional head-up display, a red SPORT mode start screen in the central touchscreen infotainment system and John Cooper Works sport seats wrapped in carbon black leather. The red highlights around the centre console and red ambient lighting add to the sporty experience of the hot hatch.

Based on the standard three-door version of the Mini hatchback, the Mini John Cooper Works 3-door takes the word ‘sporty’ to the next level with its appearance. Mini has played with gloss black and red highlights all over the car, along with a few other visual treats, making it a sheer looker.

At the front, the Mini John Cooper Works 3-door has an aggressive-looking grille, complete with a gloss black finish and honeycomb mesh pattern. There are two square-themed air dams on the lower corners of the front grille, which are flanked with inverted L-shaped air curtains having gloss black highlights. The trademark rounded all-LED headlamps and a small horizontal air vent on the bonnet have been retained from the standard three-door Mini, with the John Cooper Works 3-door also getting racing stripes with red garnish on their sides.

For an even sportier appeal, the Mini John Cooper Works 3-door comes with a red-coloured roof and rounded rearview mirrors. More red accents are present on the thin strip running across the grille and fender garnish. The car also gets black-coloured wheel arch moulding and side body cladding, along with 18-inch machined alloy wheels with red brake callipers behind them.

The rear profile of the Mini John Cooper Works 3-door is the same as the standard three-door Mini Cooper, with the hatchback getting gloss-black garnish for the boot-mounted license plate housing and LED tail lamp surrounds, which feature Union Jack-inspired LED inserts. The John Cooper Works 3-door also gets a gloss black rear diffuser with centrally-placed twin 95mm exhaust ports.

The Mini John Cooper Works 3-door is a proper sports hatchback in the way it drives. The standard Mini Cooper is already a fine handler, and the John Cooper Works 3-door takes the experience to the next level with its sport-tuned suspension setup, comprising of single joint spring-strut front axle and multiple control-arm rear axle. The multiple drive modes and sport brake system enrichen the driving experience.

For the John Cooper Works 3-door, Mini has tuned the 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine available in the Mini lineup. Here, in this hot hatch, this hatchback claims 231 PS of maximum power and 320 Nm of peak torque output. Mini claims a top speed of 246 kmph and a 0-100 kmph acceleration timing of 6.3 seconds for the John Cooper Works 3-door.

The Mini John Cooper Works 3-door is laden with essential safety features like front and side airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, hill hold assist, and traction control. In the optional package, this hot hatch can also be equipped with driver assistance features like forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and high beam assist.
