MAS 2025: MINI unveils new JCW line-up and Convertible

KUALA LUMPUR: MINI Malaysia took everyone by surprise at the ongoing auto show with its new line that blends legendary performance with cutting-edge technology and innovation. What are we talking about?

At the Malaysia International Auto Show 2025, MINI introduced not one but three stunning John Cooper Works (JCW) models along with the new MINI Cooper Convertible. Thus, making a significant leap into the high-performance and lifestyle-oriented auto market.

Benjamin Nagel, Managing Director of BMW Group Malaysia, expressed enthusiasm at the launch: “It’s hard to believe that just nine months ago, we introduced the New MINI Family to Malaysia, and the excitement has only grown since then. Today, we continue to honour the legendary John Cooper Works name, which was first etched into motorsport history on the legendary streets of Monte Carlo and is now celebrated worldwide.

The New MINI JCW takes up the mantle as the true torchbearer of this winning legacy, bringing to life the high-octane performance and pulse-pounding agility that have made JCW legendary. As the ultimate embodiment of MINI’s performance DNA, the New MINI JCW is designed to thrill, delivering the heart-racing experience that has always defined JCW – light, powerful, and unmistakably MINI!”

He added, “With the introduction of the First-Ever All-Electric MINI JCW and the First-Ever All-Electric MINI JCW Aceman, we’re bringing the unmistakable JCW driving experience to a broader audience, catering to different preferences while staying true to the high-performance DNA that JCW represents.

New MINI John Cooper Works line-up

The MINI JCW family gets three new models in Malaysia, namely - the petrol-powered MINI JCW, the First-Ever All-Electric MINI JCW, and the First-Ever All-Electric MINI JCW Aceman. While the three are quite different from one another, what remains common is the iconic MINI styling, robust performance, and advanced feature kit.

Performance

MINI JCW is powered by a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder engine making a maximum power output of 231 hp along with a peak torque of 380 Nm. The car goes from 0 to 100 kmph in just 6.1 seconds, reaching a top speed of 250 kmph. The power is driven to the front wheels via a 7-speed Steptronic transmission with a double clutch.

The First-Ever All-Electric MINI JCW and MINI JCW Aceman, on the other hand, bear the all-electric torch for the JCW family. They both share a common powertrain that delivers 258 hp and 350 Nm of torque. These front-wheel drive configured JCWs achieve 0-100 kmph in 5.9 seconds and 6.4 seconds, respectively. Both are capable of a top speed of 200 kmph. As for range, the JCW offers a range of 371 km and the Aceman of 355 km. They come with DC fast charging capabilities that take the battery from 10 to 80% in just 30 minutes.

The new Mini Cooper Convertible offers open-air excitement and comes with a refreshed exterior and interior. It comes with -

• Gloss black wheel arches and side skirts
• Distinctive rear spoiler
• Visible central exhaust tailpipe (for new MINI JCW)
• 18-inch JCW Lap Spoke wheels with sport tyres (for New MINI JCW and All-Electric MINI JCW)

• 19-inch JCW Lap Spoke 2-tone wheels with sports tyres (for MINI JCW Aceman)
• Roof railings (JCW Aceman)
• JCW-specific sports seats with red stitching
• Active Seat with electric seat adjustment and memory function (For All-Electric MINI JCW and Aceman)
• Ambient lighting & Panoramic roof
• John Cooper Works sports steering wheel with red stitching and pronounced thumb rests, and paddle shifters
• High-resolution MINI Interaction Unit with dedicated JCW mode displaying performance data
• JCW-specific centre console
• Harman Kardon surround sound system
• MINI Navigation AR, interior and exterior mirror package (For All-Electric MINI JCW and Aceman)

All three JCW models are equipped with a comprehensive suite of driver assistance systems, including the Driving Assistant Plus and Parking Assistant Plus as standard features. Some of the features include - Driving Assistant Plus and Parking Assistant Plus, with the former including Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Steering and Lane Control Assistant, Automatic Speed Limit Assist, Reversing Assist Camera with panoramic rear view, Reversing Assistant up to 50m, Parking View, Remote 3D View, and much more.
